THE hallways were near-empty as Lily and Diana walked to class the next morning. Lily always liked to get to class early and was thrilled to know Diana did too (although her reasons were different from the red-head).

"So, how were tryouts?" She asked curiously.

Diana had been so exhausted after the exertion she only had the energy to shower before climbing into bed for the rest of the day.

    "They were alright," she said.

"Come on, give me more than that!" Lily nudged her shoulder with hers lightly. Diana rolled her eyes and suppressed a smile.

"Don't give me that look," Lily grinned, "I'm trying to groom you into sharing more with me."

"I'm going to ignore that last bit," Diana chuckled. "What I mean by alright is that I'm not sure how it went."

    "Did you catch the snitch?"

    "Yeah."

"And did you do it better than anyone else trying out?"

"I suppose...I mean he did sort of crash into the ground."

"What?" Lily laughed, "Then it went well!"

Diana smiled and adjusted her bag.

"I'm serious. You better stop selling yourself short! You told me you weren't sure how it went when you did everything you were supposed to?"

"I don't want to make any assumptions is all."

    "Was it fun?"

"So fun," Diana breathed out, "It was amazing to be back on a broom. I hadn't been since early this year."

"Beauxbatons doesn't have Quidditch going on until spring?" Lily squinted.

"Oh...no, it does, I just...didn't play," Diana said awkwardly. The truth was she'd been "released" from the team early. Lily didn't have to know that, though.

"Hey girls!" James's voice rang out as he turned the corner. Lily tensed, thinking the boy was going to do something horrible like asking her out again. He caught up to them quickly, an energetic smile on his face.

"Diana," he looked at her, causing Lily to furrow her eyebrows, "I meant to say this yesterday, but, great job at tryouts yesterday! That thing you did, making Watts hit the ground, that was good thinking."

"Oh, uh, thanks," the brunette let out, not expecting the compliment.

"I'm starting to see why my mum liked you so much," he grinned, "You're pretty cool, zippy."

"Zippy?" Lily asked with an incredulous look, coming to a stop.

"Yeah," James said, looking back to Diana, "Because you were so fast."

Diana chuckled dryly, "That better be the first and last time I hear you calling me that."

"Alright, zippy," he smirked before racing off and away. Diana pouted.

"So, what was it you were saying? About Quidditch tryouts going alright?" Lily asked smugly. Diana elbowed her.

The potions classroom was dark and dingy.

Although it was obvious Professor Slughorn had tried to bring some light to the room through the antique glow of posh lamps and elegance through the delicately carved glass vials stacked in teetering rows, he merely pushed the ambient whispers of pureblood further.
