The evening continued on, Sayaka nearly forgetting about the message she sent. The breeze brushed through the house, muggy hot air sitting on her shoulders. A pot sat boiling on the stove, and tomato sauce bubbled nearby.
A buzzing filled the room, cutting through the air. Sayaka whipped her head up, not expecting anyone to be contacting her at 8:30 PM on a Thursday. She picked up her phone, one of the fuzzy blue phone case accessories bobbing in the air.
A text message had come in, simply reading pretty good, hbu? its hotter than i'd expected tonight :)
Sayaka smiled a broad smile, her face lighting up. She added the number to her contacts, simply reading "Mioda <3." She shot off a quick response, a timer beeping in the background.
The honey color of the sunset blazed through the room, illuminating the simple dinner. Sayaka didn't have much, she was fresh out of college, the calendar still stuck on the day she left.
Rustling leaves and the buzz of bees were a backing track to the calm scene. Her fork clinked against the plate, the stark white contrasting the reds from the sauce.
Life had been slow recently. She had grown up in the small town, and never really known anywhere else. Just the idea of someone new moving in was insane to her, let alone someone from somewhere so big.
She could hardly imagine someone living out her dreams, even if just for a moment. The stage lights, a hot mic ready to go, the entire world watching and waiting. The opening chords begin, the bassist strumming and the backup vocals starting.
Shaking her head, Sayaka snapped out of her daydream. A cold front was moving in, and the clock was speeding. She finished off her dinner, sticking the plate under the boiling hot water of the sink. Starting up the dishwasher, she let out a sigh. She was tired of the monotony, but there was a chance that was changing.
She trekked across the house, settling into her room. The soft blankets engulfed her, the big white pillows softening her fall onto the bed. The clanking of her old rusty fan was a backdrop to her small talk with the newcomer, Ibuki.
After small talk, her phone pinged once more.
Mioda <3: Want to go to the bookstore tomorrow?
Sayaka's face lit up, her cheeks flushing and her smile widening. She quickly agreed, deciding on meeting tomorrow afternoon after she got off of work. The sunset illuminated the room, the orange hue highlighting the tired girl. Her mind wandered, images of books and dusty shelves dancing through her mind. Minutes later, the daydreams turned to dreams, as she drifted into a comfortable sleep.

The morning burst in like an explosion, the yellows and oranges bursting in through the window. Sayaka's alarm was screaming, the loud beeps cutting through her sleep.
Bright lights illuminated her morning, Sayaka going through the same daily motions as any other time. However, this time there was a light of hope. She had met someone who made her feel genuinely happy.
The crumbling sidewalk was sizzling, the thermometer outside the little coffehouse reading a scorching 98°. It was barely 7 AM, but she knew if she didnt get started opening up then she would never get it finished by opening.
Mopping the floor, she could hear the jingle of a bell, signaling her that her coworkers were beginning to arrive. For once, Komaru was the first to arrive, evidently in good shape and happy.
"So someone decided to finally be on time," Sayaka mused, a slight smile on her face.
"Hey! I'm not always late! I get here on time like 50 percent of the time." Komaru huffed, letting out a small giggle.
