chapter 1

With the arranged marriage of Y/n and Azula. Ozai and Ursa have had F/n and Y/n over for many occasions.    Fire lord Azulon does not mind this for the most part except for the slight fear that F/n will favor Ozai and want him to usurp the throne.

But in reality F/n does not care for politics. Instead he rather see that his son will be happy. And his duty to fight for the avatar if necessary comes before the politics of another nation. 

But in any case Azula finds herself quite fond of Y/n and his shadowbending abilities. 

This is good for the future in terms of the marriage. 

But the royal family is very dysfunctional.

And the dysfunction of the family became apparent to F/n. Like when Azula got her fire bending teacher in trouble and Zuko attempted to defend him.  But when Ozai revealed that he nearly discarded him at birth. F/n had enough.  

F/n: Enough Ozai!

Ozai: Pardon?

F/n: No wonder why Zuko can't bend like Azula. When his father is nothing but an unsupportive coward. The minute you choose one child over the other because of natural talent you only proved you are unfit to be a father.

Ozai had anger in his eyes.  F/n didn't care knowing he could easily defeat Ozai. 

F/n: You're silence proves my point. 

Ozai: I let you're son marry my daughter, and this is how you repay me?

F/n: It was Ursa's idea not you're idea.  She knew that if Iroh dies Zuko is the heir apparent.   She also knew a good relationship with the shadowbenders is beneficial.  

Ozai: Then answer me this. How do teach you're son?

F/n: I do it personally. I judge based on how I was as a child. Not by how I am now.  Shadow benders are not like others however. We don't have to worry about non benders. All shadow bender kin are benders.

Ozai: *sigh*.

F/n: I think I made my point clear.  Azula.

Azula: Hmm?

F/n: Treat you're teachers with respect. At the end of the day their still better than you. And can defeat you in a heartbeat.

Azula simply nodded. 

This would not be the end though. Throughout childhood Azula was a troublemaker.  Y/n did his best to keep her out of trouble.

This didn't do much, instead only fed her desires. She desired acceptance, now she wanted Y/n's as well.  

F/n tried to be an example, a role model. But that didn't work as Azula preferred her father's methods.   

As the years pasted  Zuko and Azula became less like siblings and more like enemies.  Azula became obsessed with power.

Zuko eventually had an agni kai with his father. Which he lost gaining him a scar. 

Ozai banished Zuko to find the avatar. F/n had no clue of this decision.  Until he was told by Azula. All part of her  plan.

An enraged F/n storms into Ozai's throne room. Shadows spewing out of his body.

F/n: Fire lord Ozai! You send you're son to hunt the avatar! 

Ozai: I mearly sent him to retrieve the avatar so he can learn firebending.  

Ozai had no choice but to lie. He was not strong enough on his own to defeat F/n. Especially at nighttime.

F/n seemingly calmed down.

F/n: You better be telling the truth. If the shadow realm feels the link sever. Then you will find you're land covered in a blanket of darkness.  You're fire will be useless against the darkness as it suffocates you.

And with that F/n left, Ozai let out a sigh of relief. He knew F/n wasn't letting out an empty threat. He had to come up with something. Even if that meant throwing his own son to the wolves.

Azula was disappointed. She hoped F/n would kill Ozai so she could be fire lord. 

With the help of Y/n who proved to be a good sparing partner Azula improved her fire bending being able to bend lightning.     It paled in comparison to Y/n's shadow bending.

Y/n was able to move from one shadow to another teleporting to shadows.  Much like his father he was a very powerful shadow bender.  And Azula knew this.

She knew that with Y/n on her side. No one could beat her. That is, except the avatar.  Y/n still had his sense of duty to the avatar like all shadowbenders.  

This would mean that the avatar is still the only obstacle that can't be removed easily. Since the shadow benders are  a formidable army that the fire nation and earth kingdom fear.

F/n allowed Y/n to stay with Azula in the fire nation since F/n knew he would be fine.

Azula enjoyed the time she gets to spend with Y/n now.

The first night of course things can be awkward.

Y/n sits at the edge of the bed just watching the candle light flicker.  He felt a pair of arms wrap around his chest and a chin on his shoulder.

Azula: So. You ready for bed?

Y/n: I don't know. Are you?

Azula: Always so polite.   

She planted a kiss on his neck. He didn't really react to it. 

Y/n: Doesn't this seem weird to you?

Azula: Hmm?

Y/n: Us sharing a bed. I know we've been with eachother since we were kids. But still.

Azula: Nope. If anything i'm happy.  Because, *whispers into his ear* I finally get what's mine.

Y/n blushed hard.

Azula: *chuckle* I'm sorry. *kisses his cheek* You're fun to tease.

Y/n: I'm going to bed.

Azula let go of Y/n as he let himself fall backwards laying flat on the bed. Azula chuckled and laid beside him.

Azula: Goodnight.

Y/n: Goodnight.
