Chapter 4

(We're skipping to Azula and Zuko vs Aang vs Katara. I wan to get things rolling a bit)

The four square up. Shadows appear in the middle and Y/n appears.

Y/n: I can't let you do this Azula!

Azula: I knew this would happen eventually. 

Zuko: Get out the way Y/n.

Y/n: A shadow bender's duty is to protect the avatar. I can not let you harm them.

Azula grits her teeth.

Azula: I don't want to hurt you Y/n!

Y/n: I don't want to hurt you either. But I have to. For the sake of all.

Azula and Zuko fire at Y/n. He raises shadows and blocks both attacks. He teleports to Zuko and kick him in the back.

Azula blasts at him only for him to teleport behind her and sweep her leg.   He stepped back not capitalizing because he wanted to hurt Azula as little as possible.   Zuko fired a fireball at him. Y/n spun around it and shot a ball of shadows at him knocking him back.  

Zuko and Azula sent beams of fire at Y/n. He held darkness in front of his hands blocking the beams.  He struggled and he wasn't sure he could hold much longer.

A blast of air sent Zuko flying back while a tendril of water carried Azula into a wall.  Y/n sigh in relief.

The dai li arrived.  Aang encased himself in crystal. Y/n and Katara fight the dai li. Not even Y/n can take on too many earthbenders. He feels rocks smack his back and sides. 

Aang comes out of the crystals in the avatar state. Only for Azula to strike him with lightning.

Y/n saw this and got enraged.

Y/n: NO! DAMN YOU AZULAAAAA!

Y/n blasted many Dai li away with a burst of shadows. Then lunged towards Azula and Zuko. Everything went slow for her. She saw Y/n with shadows seeping out of him. His angry expression that she has never seen before shocked her to her core.  In desperation she blasted Y/n who was too close to dodge. It sent him flying back. A crystal impaled him and he slid off onto the ground.

He gasped for air as he walked down the path. Azula looked in shock as iroh appeared and distracted the dai li allowing Aang and Katara to escape.

Azula: Y/N!

Azula ran after Y/n following his blood trail.  As the trail grew longer so did Azula's worry.  Eventually she found Y/n sitting with his back against the wall. She slid in front of him.

Y/n saw the worried look on her face.  She quickly. Cauterized his wounds.

Y/n very weakly: A-Az-Azula.

Azula with a very concerned tone: Yes my love?

Y/n opened his mouth but no words came out as he passed out. He fell forward and Azula caught him. He was breathing.

Azula started to cry. She knew that it was her attack that caused this. It was both tears of sadness and Relief.  She held him for a few seconds crying before she picked him up.

She took Y/n to the boat. But during the trip she realized something.  If she took Y/n to the fire nation. Ozai could use him as leverage against the shadow benders.  At nighttime she took the still unconscious Y/n and put him in a lifeboat.

Zuko: What are you doing?

Azula turned to face her brother. 

Azula: I'm getting Y/n to safety.

Zuko: He'll be safe at the fire palace.

Azula: Are you stupid? Father will use him as leverage.  Without the avatar the shadow benders are the only thing in his way.

Zuko: It's dangerous you know? taking him there on a lifeboat.

Azula: I have to. Y/n is everything to me. You wouldn't understand.

Zuko: I do actually. Which is why i'm not going to try and stop you.

Azula cut the ropes connecting the ship to the lifeboat and it went into the water.

Azula: Hang on Y/n. We'll get you home.

Azula sent out a wave of fire propelling them forward.

This went on for hours until they reached one of the shadow bender docks. She couldn't dock a lifeboat, so she fired blasts in the air trying to get someone's attention.

Someone did notice and called F/n about it.

Shadow bender: Sir. These balls of blue flame are coming out of that lifeboat out there. I think their trying to signal us.

F/n used a spyglass and looked at the lifeboat. He saw Azula firing blasts in the air.

F/n: Get that lifeboat in! Now!

A boat went out and a hook of shadow latched onto the lifeboat and pulled it into the dock. 

F/n went over to see Azula pull out a unconscious Y/n. F/n rushed over.

F/n: By the  spirits! What happened?!

Azula: I...I...it's my fault.

F/n: You can explain later. Let's get him to the shadow palace infirmary.

They got him there. Azula sat at his side and didn't want to move. 

F/n: Now explain what happened.

Azula explained everything trying not to cry again.

F/n was furious. But knew who really was to blame. The one who would throw his own children under the bus to save his own skin.

F/n trying to stay calm: I...I...I *sigh* you should get some rest Azula.

F/n walked out of the room. Azula looked at Y/n.  She wanted to crawl in with him. But for once in her life, she questioned if he wanted her anymore.
