After my third period, I put the rest of my books away in my locker, preparing to go to lunch. It was our first day back since spring break & the third semester was soon coming to an end.

I was a little anxious about the school year coming to an end. I still wasn't sure what college I was going to be attending & I wasn't ready to just be done with high school & face the real world.

I would soon have to move out of my parents' house & live on my own as an adult. Sometimes I feel like life would be a little bit easier if my father was here with me. Every time I thought about him it eased my mind a little bit.

I was quickly snapped out my thoughts when someone walked passed my locker & shoved me causing me to fall straight on my ass.

Expecting the person to stop & at least help me, they didn't. He just kept walking, I couldn't really see the boys face just the back of his nappy ass head.

I haven't even been at school for half the day & it was already some shit.

••

I made my way into the cafeteria & sat at the table in the far corner by myself. I used my lunch period to catch up on assignments or study my notes.

A'Lana would usually offer me to sit with her & her many friends, but I didn't really like socializing with people I didn't know.

Plus, I've been avoiding her ever since I left her stranded the night of the party. I was so upset I completely forgot all about her. Besides, she ditched me the whole time anyway.

"Yooo," Tez spoke making me look up from my notes.

"Hii Bestie," I said happy to see him.

"Why you always sittin' in this damn corner by ya self," Tez laughed.

"You know you can come sit with me & my homies if you want to" he offered looking over at the table where a bunch of guys sat.

"Nah I'm straight, I gotta stay focused on this work anyway & I don't need any distractions," I declined his offer.

"Aight nerd whatever," He teased walking back over to his table.

I knew he mentioned me when he got back over to his table, because now all his homies were looking my way.

I hate when people stare or even look my way for too long, it makes me feel so uncomfortable.

It was finally the end of the day & I was ready to get the fuck home. I stood outside in the parking lot waiting for my mom to pick me up.

I sent her 3 text messages letting her know I needed a ride home, but she just left me on read. I guess she didn't feel like picking me up so I started to walk, I instantly regretted not driving my car today.

My house was at least 20 minutes from my school, which wasn't even long. I was just glad I had on comfortable shoes to walk in.

I started to walk down the block & my fat ass couldn't resist going into the corner store.

I entered the store & went straight to the candy aisle. I grabbed 2 packs of skittles, & a snickers bar.

I felt someone was looking at me, I slowly turned my head to see some boy staring me down further down the aisle. He was tall & dark skin.

Fuck he lookin' at.

I rolled my eyes to myself & made my way up to the counter to pay for my items.

"$3.56 is your total," the cashier said putting my candy into the bag.

I quickly paid & made my way out of the store. It was getting darker outside & I felt small droplets of rain.

I pulled my phone from my back pocket & looked down at the time that read 5:45 PM. I started to speed up my pace to make it home faster.

The rain was getting worse & started to pour down even more. I was starting to wish I brought a damn umbrella.

Once I started to speed up my pace I heard loud footsteps behind me.

I looked behind me to see 2 men dressed in all black running towards me, one had on a ski mask & the other had his hoodie up.

Everything was happening so damn fast, the men ran towards me pushing me to the ground, I shut my eyes tight & the next thing I heard were gunshots.

The pain I felt was indescribable. He shot me in my shoulder, my lower leg, & my upper arm.

There was blood leaking from everywhere.

I had this feeling in my stomach that felt so familiar, the same feeling I felt when my father was shot. The worst feeling anyone could ever experience. I started to have flashbacks of that day & I knew I was going to die.

The police sirens that soon filled my ears only heightened my anxiety & the faint sound of whizzing bullets had me scared for my life.

At that point I didn't care about the pain, I just wanted to get away from the whole scene.

I struggled to stand up from the ground & limped further down the narrow street until I got to a nearby alleyway.

I fell down to my knees near a dumpster, all I could do was cry. The men took my phone, my wallet, & my drawstring bag.

I knew I couldn't call anyone, & I also knew that no one would come looking for me.

My breathing became faint, the rain poured harder, my eyes were heavy, & I was freezing cold.

I laid there and cried out for help, but I knew no one would hear.

I tried to fight the urge to close my eyes but I just couldn't hold on any longer.

Everything went black.

••
||Anonymous POV||

I was driving damn near 80mph down Charleston street. The rain was heavy as fuck & the road was slippery.

I wasn't driving anywhere, in particular, I just liked to vibe to music & drive around in my car.

I slowed up my car a little bit when I drove passed the alleyway right off of Oakley Street.

I noticed somebody was laying there, I really couldn't see the person's face.

I drove my car down the alley & made my way over to the big green dumpster.

"Shit" I cursed under my breath.

I picked the girl up bridal style & carried her over to the passenger seat of my car.

All of her clothes were covered in blood & her breathing was heavy.

I got back into my car & drove to the hospital as fast as I could.

"What's ya name ma" I shook her lightly trying to keep her awake.

She fluttered her eyes & attempted to speak, her words were slurred & I really couldn't make out what she was saying.

I knew she had lost a lot of blood & if she didn't receive medical attention soon she could possibly die. I tried my best to keep her awake by talking to her until we made it to the hospital.
