Authors note: I recently lost my grandmother to a result of chemotherapy. This poem is dedicated to her and everything that is mentioned in it, is actually things she played with me when I was little.

In days long gone,
Back when our time was new...
We had many adventures,
Me and you.

Together we were queens!
We hosted green tea parties,
Dressed in our glittering gowns,
And wearing our shining crowns.

We sailed the seven seas,
Our ships faced enormous waves!
We  may have sank a time or two,
But somehow, we always came through.

We explored sandy beaches,
Uncovering treasures unknown.
We faced ravenous pirates!
All yearning for our gold!

When we tired of beaches
And the nosy pirates who abound,
We fled to the glimmering forests
Where the fairies flittered around.

After the calmness of the forest,
We craved a little excitement.
We joined a band of cowboys!
We fought off bands of outlaws
On our noble steed, Star.

And now you begin life's greatest adventure.
One far more grand than all others.
I know that when it's my turn,
I'll get to join that adventure next to you.
