Another day of misery. I couldn't believe that once upon a time, I had lived in a luxurious mansion. Now, my fluffy bed is the dirt. My walls of protection are the trees. My entertainment is the nature around me. It is such a drastic change. I have been out here for about a week now, and I am still moving. Hopefully I find civilisation soon, because it is very lonely out here. Worst of all, is that I have no friends. I have no one to help me. It is just me, and it may be like this forever.

Another week passed before Jake found any signs of civilisation. The biggest hint was a dirt road leading off into the distance.

"Thank God." I exclaimed upon sighting the road. With nothing else to do, I followed the road. It went on, and on, and on, before I finally saw a village. There were children playing in a very inviting town square. The main street was full of people, all going about their daily business. 'A great place for robbing.' The spy in me warned. I strode into the town square, trying to act important, but as I passed them, people just stared. I must have looked horrible after a couple of weeks in the wild. I kept on glancing around furtively, checking to see there were no robbers. Then I laughed at myself. Why would anyone rob me? I was ugly, broken, sore, and poor. But apparently not to everyone. I saw a very pretty girl looking at me. She had long, silky blonde hair with pretty blue eyes. Her face was the symbol of warmth, and her body the face of comfort. She was sitting on the fountain, and when she saw me looking at her, she flashed me a smile. Her smile was like the glint of a diamond when struck by the sun, and it filled me with warmth. I looked away, trying to hide the blush rising to my cheeks. I decided to approach her.

"Hello." I said when I got to her.

"Hello. You look like you have had a rough time." Her voice was lilting, and reminded me of the birds I had seen on the way.

"You got that right." I chuckled, and she smiled.

"My name is Madison, but all my friends call me Maddie." The girl said.

"My name is Jake. Jake Ripperson." I said before sitting down next to her. She suddenly looked very scared. "What's wrong?" I asked.

"You shouldn't be here. You are wanted all over America, for terrorism." Maddie said.

"What for? I have worked so many times for the government, and have never done anything to hurt the US." I said, confused.

"Your company, Star.Corp, blew up 3 US Army bases!" Maddie exclaimed.

"Kyle." I growled, so viciously Maddie moved away from me a little. "Sorry, but he is my enemy. I would never bomb any US bases. Kyle was my deputy commander at Star.Corp, but three weeks ago he bombed our headquarters, with me in it! I barely escaped with my life." I whispered, burying my head in my hands.

"I can't imagine how that must have been." Maddie said, moving closer to me. She placed her hand on my back. I looked at her gratefully.

"Where am I?" I asked, slightly embarrassed.

"You are in Charleston, South Carolina." Maddie said with a grin. She seemed quite amused that I didn't know where I was.

"I am? But this doesn't look anything like Charleston." I said.

"This is one of the towns on the outskirts of Charleston." Maddie said.
