Hey guys, I haven't really done chapters when I was writing, so will upload as best I can! :)

This story is completed, I feel like I've done all I can with it. I hope you enjoy it!

START:

I walked along the street and got my keys out. I hated winter in England, there was so much wind. My long curly dark brown hair was blowing everywhere causing me to squint my green eyes so my hair wouldn't whip me in the face. I was wearing my black tank top, with my black escape the fate jacket, my gray skinny legs and my pink vans.

'My parents should be home from work soon' I thought to myself.

We were really close; more like friends then parents and daughter. I could go to them for everything and we always had outings, just us. I had two close friends, but that's it. We weren't as close as my parents. Everyone always seemed surprised about how good my relationship was with my parents, because of how well we got along, but my parents had always let me do what I wanted in the sense that I was allowed to follow all of my dreams and they never pressured me or yelled at me. They were always supportive of me. There were times we didn't always get along, but that's expected when you live with people.

I walked into the house and logged onto my laptop. I knew I was lucky; most seventeen year old don't even have a computer let alone a laptop. I signed into MSN and saw no one was on. I sighed and turned my TV on.

After a while I looked at the time and started to worry as my parents weren't home yet. They were supposed to be home two hours ago. I called my mum's cell and got the voicemail, "Hey ma, just wondering where you are, you're a bit late and I'm starting to worry. I love you"

Just after I hung up there was a knock on the door. I walked downstairs and answered it. There were two police officers there.

"Hello" I said, confused.

"Hi, are you Miss Katya Campbell?" the man asked.

"Yeah" I answered

"Well, I'm sorry to inform you but – he looked at the other officer with a scared look on his face - your parents were in a car accident earlier this afternoon and neither of them survived" he said, still looking scared.

I opened my mouth and looked out the front door.

"Um, what are you doing?" the police officer asked

"Looking for cameras, I'm on normal people Punk'd aren't I?" I asked

"No Miss, you're not. This is serious" he replied.

I looked at him, my eyes filling with tears, begging him to tell me it wasn't true.

"No, no I don't believe you. It's not true. PLEASE" I begged starting to cry my eyes out.

"I – I wish I could" he said and I looked him in the eyes and knew he meant it.

I felt my legs collapse from under me and I sat where I collapsed bawling my eyes out, screaming.

"Um, I know this is going to be hard but we need to you come and formally identify the bodies, as you are the only living relative" the police officer said.

I looked up my vision blurred from tears and blindly nodded.

I got into the police officer's car and he took me to the morgue. I walked in and saw my parents, my only relatives lying on the cold metal tables, their faces demented and bloody and it was too much. I started crying again.

"Miss, is that your parents?" the police officer asked. I nodded in response.

I was sitting in the interview room, just crying. The police officer had put me there til they sorted out what to do with me. An hour later he came back in and said, "Well, I have some news. Since you are only seventeen we have to find a parent or guardian for you as advised by your parents in their will. We managed to get in contact with your parents lawyer and he will get their will down here as soon as he can. Until then, make yourself at home here; just don't go through any of the files. The toilets are down the hallway"

I nodded and looked at the floor.

For the next two hours I sat in the interview room, only leaving it to go to the toilet.

Eventually the police officer came back with a man dressed in a black suit.

"Miss Campbell?" the man asked.

I nodded and looked up at him as he sat down on the other side of the table.

"Now, I have your parents will here and they say that they leave everything they own to you, which means you get the house, the car and all the furniture, once you are eighteen. Until then, well, I don't know if you knew this but, you were adopted" he paused.

I turned to look at him, my mouth hanging open and a weird screech came out of my mouth.

"Uh, so obviously you didn't know. Um, well, your parents have written here that if anything should happen to them, then you are to go live with your biological family until such time that you turn eighteen and can take ownership of the house and car. Until then I will take care of the legalities" the lawyer said, pausing to look at me.

I looked at him, I didn't say anything but I guess he didn't expect me to.

"Now, I'm going to place a call to the contact information they have here for your father and he will come and collect you and you'll go live with him. I know this may seem unfair but it's only for a short while" he said smiling comfortingly and leaving the room.

About five minutes after he left my cell phone vibrated.

"Hmm?" I answered

"Where the hell are you? I've been at your house knocking for half hour now" My best friend Amelia said.

"I'm at the police station" I replied

"What the hell? Why?" She asked

I explained everything to her. The crash, my parents, being adopted, I told her everything. By the time I finished she was bawling her eyes out and so was I.

"That's totally uncool; I heaps don't want you to move away!" She yelled.

"I have to" I said

"Hey my phone's going to go dead, but I'll be down at the police station in an hour" Amelia said hanging up.

I couldn't believe how much life had changed in just a few hours. I couldn't believe that the people I loved most on earth were gone and I didn't even get to say goodbye. I felt nothing but pain. I wanted to die myself.

I jumped when the police officer came back into the room.

"Alright, we got in contact with your next of kin and he is going to be here about 8am tomorrow, he has to catch a plane out here, I'll take you back to your house to pack, then we'll pick you up some dinner, and your next of kin will meet us here in the morning" he said

"What's your name?" I whispered, barely audible.

"Mark" he said

"Thank you, Mark" I said

He just smiled and held the door open for me.

When we got back to my house I mindlessly packed all of my clothes, shoes, make-up, CD's, my portable DVD player, some DVD's, my photo album, my laptop, and my Ipod. .

I'd messaged Amelia earlier and told her to not go to the police station. She called me and I explained everything and how much I would miss her, but I'd take my laptop and email her all the time.

We ended up getting pizza for dinner and I slept in my parent's bed that night. It smelled of them and I cried myself to sleep. When we got back to the police station the next morning, I was taken into the same interview room as before. I hadn't spoken a word since I'd talked to Amelia and I really didn't want to. I'd lost my family, my home, my friends and now I had to go live with this man I didn't even know. I was in no mood to talk.

I walked into the room and stopped dead. My jaw dropped and Mark almost walked into me.

The man sitting at the table looked up and saw me gaping at him.

"Ah, so you've heard of me" he smiled warmly.
