What's wrong? I asked my wolf
Something's up, I can sense it. She replied
Do you think they are going to accept?
Not without a compromise, they have our pack on the edge of existence. They could ask for anything and your dad would give it to them. My wolf had a tendency to state the obvious which sometimes I loved and sometimes I hated.
This was one of the times I hated.
Sienna. I mentally groaned
What? I could feel her smiling in my mind. You would rather me lie to you instead?
Whatever..
Alright then, I'll sit idly by while you go into denial about our probable imminent death. She said with amusement. Where are we going by the way?
We are going to Lexi's house. I said and it was Sienna's time to groan
You know I could really do with a run.. She hinted.
Dad won't let me shift and anyway, it wouldn't be a very long run, it's only a few minutes until we get to the siege line.
She didn't answer after that. Lexi was my best friend since i could remember. She had a petite frame, dirty blonde hair which shone in the sunlight and a perfect smile with light grey eyes. She was the daughter of my dads third in command which meant we spent quite a lot of time together while our dads were discussing pack business.
"Hey!" She opened the door and beamed at me, pulling me into an enthusiastic hug.
"Haven't seen you in a while" I managed to get out while she hugged me to death. "Okay, okay..too tight" I breathed out as she let go and let her arms fall towards her small frame.
"Sorry, after you didn't turn up at the bunker I got worried that something had happened to you." She told me. "Want anything to drink?" she said as she led me through into the kitchen.
"Nah I'll pass.. I actually came here to tell you something." I smiled at her
"Found your mate!?" She guessed excitedly.
I raised my eyebrow at her. "Nope." I said, popping the 'p'. "Guess again."
"Your dads got a new woman?" She smiled cheekily, she knew that I hated the idea of someone replacing my mom.
"Okay now we are just stating the impossible," I scowled at her.
"Whatever you say..." Her lips folded in to keep herself from laughing. "So what is it?" She asked curiously.
"My dads calling a ceasefire," I told her, followed with a gasp of her surprise, "I know, that was my reaction too."
"That's great!, isn't it?" She said warily, Lexi knew that the situation our pack was in was precarious, and you didn't need to be a third in commands daughter to know that.
"Sienna thinks that they will want something in return. And it makes sense - it's like our pack is on a cliff and they are pushing us off of it, one step at a time - we have no choice but to jump or negotiate and then there's no telling if they will comply." I ran my hand through my hair, tugging roughly at the strands as they caught around my fingers.
"You're stressed out," Lexi stated, taking a gulp of her water before she continued. "There's a new episode of The 100 out, wanna watch it with me? I recorded it and I know it's a thing me and you used to do." She smiled. Lexi was right, I was stressed and she knew just how to make me feel better. We used to watch favourite movies and TV shows in the bunker.
