Old memories resurfaced from the deep, cold abyss of the ocean floor. Being tossed into the light by the undulating sea circulating and swirling around with the current. Thrown to the shores, crashing upon the worn rocks with the mighty waves as they collided with their victim.

"Enter, Candie Sebright as our first witness." Queen Atya of the Deserta Kingdom spoke. Her voice was like strong silk. Smooth and unbreakable.

Asheria suppressed an aggressive growl when she caught the scent of Candie. She looked down to hide her eyes which shone of her wolf, and she focused on her breathing.

Candie stepped forth, clothed in a beautiful, enthralling light pink dress that tumbled down her curves in listful waves. Her hair was woven up into a bun, and placed around it, was a sparkling tiara.

Her lips wore a sly smile, her eyes held innocence. Another facade to disguise her inner self. Another lie to bring to the world.

Her chin was titled slightly up, and she carried herself in a way that made her seem like the perfect, innocent woman. Her beauty was magnificent and she found favor in the public eye.

"Candie, tell us-"

"Your majesty, I object, I'll be the one to question her." Asheria cut King Athros off with a determined look on her face. She knew that she had to be the one to do it, she knew the right questions to ask and she knew how to question someone thoroughly.

Athro's lip twitched in irritation. He despied being ordered around, especially by a woman.

And Asheria knew this.

"Candie, you told me and others that you were abused by Kyros, your prior mate, did you not?" Asheria asked calmly.

Gasps sounded through the room, many had not known Candie was Kyro's mate.

"Yes, my queen." She spoke softly, her voice already reeking of pity and manipulation.

"Could you go into detail? Explain what he did to you. I know this is really hard for you, but it's necessary for the sake of this case." Asheria feigned sympathy and looked at Candie with sad eyes.

Candie visibly gulped. "I-I....my queen, forgive me for my delay, but this is going to be very hard for me." Her voice was quiet yet loud enough for most to hear.

"I know, dear. Take your time."

Kyros could do nothing but stare at the woman who lied through her teeth. Candie was an expert liar. She was so good at it that is was terrifying.

For she could crumble kingdoms with the words she spoke.

She sighed. "I met Kyros when we were both nineteen years old. I had...caught a scent in the forest while I was blackberry picking one summer and the scent was very strong. I was lulled in. I knew that a mate's scent is only really strong when it's time to find your mate and I..."
