Human AU:

Lagravis had been quite surprised when Laval said who he was inviting over to stay the night. After all, these weren't kids that typically ran in Laval's circle of friends.

First, there was Sonic. The star athlete of the school, holding many of the records in track and cross country and a repeat state finalist in both. He was always backed by his massive ego and his free-spirit, but Sonic was polite and fun-loving, a natural thrill seeker. Rumors had it that Sonic got himself into more fights and dares than anyone else at school. Of course, those delinquencies always seemed overshadowed by his stardom in the athletic field. Why Laval invited Sonic was beyond Lagravis --- until Lavertus explained that the only thing bigger than Sonic's ego was his care for his friends. Laval was one of Sonic's friends, but this friendship was more secret -- after all, images have to be maintained.

Then there was Lloyd. Lloyd was also polite, but very level-headed compared to the other boys staying over tonight. Lloyd functioned as a sort of leader, always a team player in everything. Unlike the other boys, Lloyd was often ostracized by all. This might've been because he was new, having moved to the area about two weeks prior. Laval, never being one for popularity contests, most likely invited Lloyd to give him a friend.

The final guest was Lion-O. A spitting image of Laval (albeit with teal eyes and some skin grafts on his face), Lion-O was fiercely competitive; even rivaling Sonic in certain cases. Lion-O's greatest gift, however, was compassion and loyalty. Lion-O had also reached out to Lloyd and was most likely invited to Laval's sleepover to give Lloyd a new friend.

Which is why Lagravis was currently on the way home from work with four pizza boxes and three boxes of bread-sticks.

The exact text Lavertus had sent him read: Any chance you could pick up the pizza on your way home? The boys said they'd be patient for as long as humanly possible, but they are getting the munchies.

Lagravis smiled. It was no trouble to bring home the pizza. After all, it was the least he could do.

He pulled into the garage and parked the car. After stepping out, he grabbed the pizza and headed for the door.

Lavertus beat him to the door, easily opening it. "Thanks, brother."

"Anytime." Lagravis set the pizzas down on the kitchen counter. "Now where's--"

"NOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Come on, Lion-O! I had that!" The boisterous yell resounded from the family room.

"We're on the same team, Sonic!"

"Yeah, but still!"

Quietly laying a finger to his lips, Lavertus led Lagravis to the family room and nudged open the paneled doors. Sure enough, peeking over the deep maroon couch, four teenage boys gripped their controllers, eyes entranced by the television.

"Punch that thing, would ya?" Lloyd yelped as Laval's character punched the dice block.

"Working on it!" Laval ran his fingers through his hair, a nervous habit. "Come on, come on, hit that lucky spot!"
