It was half past three and after a long day all I wanted to do was curl up in bed and full into a deep sleep.

"Deborah is that you" called out my Grandma from the disheveled kitchen.

Walking towards the old wooden door,I looked at her from underneath my lashes. She looked worn out and I could not help but feel sorry for her. Her hair, scrapped back into a scraggly bun reminded me of straw, all harsh looking and tangy. Her lips, dry and cracked looked like they'd never seen a tub of Vaseline.

"How was school today" she asked quietly. The words flowed from her mouth like silk from a spinner.

"Good" I said eyeing the pan that was boiling on top of the stove, whatever is inside I'm not touching a bit of it I thought.

"I'm boiling eggs your father likes them" she whispered her mouth barely moving at all.

"My father?" I retorted taking a step backwards into the dark dimmed corridor

"Yes" she suppurated "He lives in this part of town,hasn't your mum told you?"

"No, no she didn't" my voice was barely a whisper.

"Well now you know" she said nodding slightly getting back to the stove.

Running my hands through my hair I quickly walked out of the kitchen and up to my room. The thought of seeing my dad made me angry and I did't even now why. I mean I have never seen him or even heard from him so why did I seem to care about a man who never seemed to care for me or come to see me? His own daughter? His own flesh and blood? Lying face down into the pillow I could have sworn that I felt someone touch my arm. Jerking right up I sat ready to spring on someone but instead I was met by an eerie sound of the wind blowing against the tall arched windows.

Although it was getting pretty dark I had decided to take a walk down by the beach that I had heard of. I watched as the soft sand glistened at the sunset ray. The subtle sea sparkled as it strolled up against the shore leaving some of the rocks and sea- shells glinting. As I breathed in fresh air, the smell of salty sea tingled my nose. The cold and refreshing breeze gently eased up against my pale skin and glided through my hair. I had never felt so calm, so peaceful. The worries of my day seemed to wash out into the crystal clear water.

Out of the ignore of my eye I sensed movement tilting my head up out in the distance I could see a boy. Although I could not see him clearly, I was able to make out what he was doing. As I was looking at him he jerked his head. He paused for a moment, tapping his pen quietly on some piece of paper he was holding. I watched his hand as he wrote. My eyes wandered up to his cross country jacket paired with a wooly hat.Sighing I diverted my attention back to the waves who where now slowly clashing into the rocks.

"Where you watching me" someone hissed down my ear.

Startled I turned blinking in confusion.

I gasped and took a few steps backwards. It was the boy that I had seen in the distance but up close I was able to make out his face and he was the boy from my first class the one that told me to move out of my seat. Blinking from the position that I had last seen him I was confused at how he managed to sneak up on me when out me noticing

"Er..er I did't men to scare you" I replied moving my hands up to rub my eyes.

He seemed to try to supress his smile but ended up bursting into loud laugher

"you? Scare me?" Are you joking" he said in between fits of laughs

Folding my arms I started to walk back to the path that lead up to the main road

"Wait I have to tell you something" he said quickly reaching out to grab my arm but for once I was prepared so I side stepped.

"You have to get out of here"

Looking at him he was no longer smiling his ice blue eyes seemed to turn cold and his eyes turned darker then normal.

Before I could scream I was engulfed by darkness.
