What comes in your mind when you see the words of "identity". Well some people might not really understand about it and Google the meaning so they can understand it, so the result that will come out might be something like this.

1.Identity is the qualities, beliefs, personality, looks and/or expressions that make a person (self-identity as emphasized in psychology) or group (collective identity as pre-eminent in sociology).[citation needed] One can regard the categorizing of identity as positive[1] or as destructive.

2.The definition of identity is who you are, the way you think about yourself, the way you are viewed by the world and the characteristics that define you.

Based on these two it's more likely to be self identity, but besides self identity we also have brand Identity or company identity. This two kind identity isn't too hard for us to know because it's all based on fact and has been written on paper. Well I know that self identity is based on fact and written on paper but self identity might be hard for ourselves to understand obviously not by the fact like your name, age, family background and others but sometimes it's hard to understand by characteristic, like what you love, what you hate or dislike or others. Since self identity has 2 kinds of views sometimes it might lead to a misunderstanding.

People might look at you in a different way than you look at yourself but there's nothing that we can do about that because we were born like this. Sometimes they completely describe you as a person that is completely not you in your perspective but you are that person in their eyes. So what would you do in this kind of situation? Would you show yourself to them or hide the truth from others? Or is it because you don't realize that you have that characteristic or you just don't want to admit that you are that kind of person?

Some people also have a problem that they don't know themselves. They don't know their "self identity". You know I didn't mean about all the facts that have written on paper when you're born right? I mean we're talking about your self identity, your characteristics and who you really are. Well some people don't know what they like, hate, dislike and others because they are always being told what they should do or don't since they are young. This problem happens because they always do as what has been told to them and never say no to others.

As we all know, people characteristic tend to be different people with a soft heart usually face this problem because they couldn't or didn't say anything because they don't want to let others disappointed in them or they are afraid that might hurt others feelings. People who don't face this problem might think this just a simple problem and could be solved in a blink but people who face it don't think like that and it takes time for them to get to know themselves better. The time taken for them to find their self identity might be different based on person characteristic and it also based on how long that they've been trapped in the identity that people set for them. So don't take it easy when you talk to someone about this, who knows that we might hurt their feelings.

Some people might think that they know themselves very well but it might turn out that they don't really know about their true self well.

Did you think you know yourself?
