Chapter 2: The Meeting

Hunter's POV

I was on the x-box. Typical me. I had just finished my game and looked at the clock. 12 o'clock. I'm late. I threw the controller to the ground and leaped off the sofa and out of the games room. I sprinted through the pack house as fast as my human legs would carry me. Past my room, jumped down 2 flights of stairs and town the endless corridor to my father's study. Damn it! Dad was gonna kill me. My first meeting as future Alpha and I was late.

It was a meeting with a new family whose eldest daughter was due to shift soon and they were moving in to be prepared. I slammed open the door and everyone was staring at me. Then I saw her, at 18 I was the oldest Alpha to not have found their mate in pack history. Before I knew what I was doing I had slipped over to her and put my arm around her waist possessively.

"MINE!" I snarled

As she went to pull away I started to growl subconsciously.

"That, my beauty, is not a very good idea. Don't try and take what is mine away from me! Understand?"

What has gotten into me? Probably frightened her half to death.

'Well done genius' Fang, my wolf, snarled 'maybe you can scare her into submission'

'Shut up, we do NOT treat our Luna that way'

Destiny's POV

"That, my beauty, is not a very good idea. Don't try and take what is mine away from me! Understand?"

I nodded shyly. I could feel Faith yearning for him, and In that moment I understood. He was my mate. From the little information my parents had told me about the life of a shifter there was one main rule. DON'T DENY YOUR MATE!

"Good" he said as he guided me out of the room and away from my parents, "she will move in here"

'What? Faith what's happening?'

'Embrace it he is our mate'

I looked up at my mate and said with a smile in my voice "okay, but I don't even know your name"

"Hunter." He replied simply.

Wow. I didn't even realise I had said it out loud until he replied

"What, what's wrong?" the sound of his voice trickled with worry.

"Nothing's wrong, honest, It's just that your name is really err... um... unique"

Unique, what's wrong with me. Unique could mean anything. What if I have displeased my mate?

"Unique?" hunter asked questionably "I'll take that as a compliment."

Phew!!

'Well done you smart child' Faith said, her voice dripping with sarcasm

'Oh shut up, I didn't see you rushing in with ideas. Besides he didn't seem to mind' I spat back

"It was meant to be" I replied jokingly

He started to laugh.

God, I love his laugh.

Hunter's laugh was deep and throaty as opposed to my own little giggle.

"Are you laughing at me?" I asked with mock upset in my voice

"Aww, did I upset my little baby?" he was mocking me. But I didn't mind.

"I'm not that little, you're just bigger than me"

"That means your small in comparison"

*humph* "Touché" I sighed
