Life for me went on as usual. I was still the same person. After college, I moved to Savannah, Georgia. It was busy enough to keep me occupied, but still, have a charm that comes with slower city life.
I settled into a nice two-story house in a quiet neighborhood. A year later meeting an accountant from a firm across town and we did the whole dating thing. He moved in and a few months later popped the question.
I felt like even if it was moving so quickly that there were no secrets between us! Well, almost no secrets. I wish I could tell him about my family, my past, but people see you differently when you tell them you are a crime lord's only daughter. I ran from my past life and never looked back until the night tall, dark, and handsome walked up to my table at my local bar.
The world tilted a little when he courageously walked up to my table as I was waiting for my fiance checking my email. Time stopped momentarily as he sat down next to me without me looking at him.
"Whatever you're trying to sell buddy, I'm not interested." I said, still not looking up from my screen.
"Who said I was a businessman?" I could hear the grin in his voice. A sound that could give warm honey a run for it's money. Thick, sweet, and a hint of danger when you get it from the source.
I look up and sure enough, a cocky, half grin on his face. Smug, like he knew he had found the shrew amongst the other blonde, breasted, disappointed lionesses who had sighted him from the moment he walked through the door. Who could blame them? A dark grey t-shirt showing off his broad shoulders and arms that could turn any woman slightly into putty. Jeans that hugged his hips and rested just above that inevitable 'V' that is only attcheived by a vigorous, dedicated workout routine. His skin just tanned enough to accentuate the icy blue orbs that could freeze anyone in their tracks below his raven black hair with a wildness even with it cut short. The kind you want to run your fingers through just to see if it's as soft as it seems. His thin lips turned upward into a full smile showing his perfect, white teeth. It felt like an eternity that I studied his face.
"...moved into town... stopped for a drink..." his voice buzzed in ears and I was able to jerk myself back to reality. Smiling I reach for my drink and pretend I had heard everything he had just said. My fiance walked up to us then and I was able to put myself back together from the lust laden fog in my mind. Standing I receive a side hug from my other half and saw the stranger put his hand out.
"Honey, this is..." My brows knit together, "I'm sorry I didn't catch your name."
"Ginsen Vi'a Fuentes."
I was shocked when my normally curious, well-mannered, outgoing best friend was cold and shot daggers at this new person. I brushed it off as him having a bad day at the office and dismissed it as we carried on a few awkward moments before Ginsen finished his drink.
"I really should be going. I still have a ton of boxes to unpack." He said as he stood from the table.
"Do you need some help?" I asked a bit too excitedly, " Help unpacking that is."
"I'm free tomorrow and can come give you a hand?"I look over towards my fiance and he was paying more attention to the game scores on the other side of the bar.
"I'd like that, Thanks!" He holds his hand out and as I shake his hand he pulls me into him leaning close to my ear saying just loud enough for me to hear, "My address, see you tomorrow."
My head was dizzy from the smell of his cologne mixing with his natural smell. It was more intoxicating than the vodka-soda I was nursing since the top of the night. I put my hands in my pockets feeling a piece of paper and pulling it out I read the address on it and butterflies flutter in my stomach. He's my next door neighbor?
