Chapter 3: Suzu

(Yumi Pov) After I finished talking to Lady Kaede, I left her hut and made my way through the village when I was stopped by Inuyasha, literally. He jumped off a house roof and landed in front of me and didn't move. Yoso began to shake again, and so did his sword. I sighed as I took hold of Yoso and looked him in the eye.

"Yumi: What do you want?"

Inuyasha crossed his arms and stepped back from me.

"Inuyasha: You're going home or you're coming with us."

I let out a dry chuckle and pushed passed him.

"Yumi: You telling me what to do is cute, but not happening."

Inuyasha growled and walked next to me.

"Inuyasha: Look I don't trust you and I don't like you, but I'm not about to let some woman who thinks she can take on the world get herself killed. Not when I could've stopped it."

I turned to him and almost snapped on him, but I took a deep breath and felt Yoso pulse.

"Yumi: Inuyasha, listen. You're a guy used to saving damsels, but I am not that girl. I don't need you or anyone to protect me."

I turned back around and kept walking, Inuyasha walked beside me and kept quiet 'til we hit the field outside the village.

"Inuyasha: Yumi! If you're planning on using a demon sword to protect you, then you're even dumber than I thought."

I glanced over my shoulder at him.

"Yumi: That still makes me smarter than you."

Inuyasha growled and I kept walking even with Kagome's voice calling my name.

Kagome: Yumi please wait! You really can't be serious about going off on your own!?"

I stopped and turned to her as she caught up with Inuyasha. Miroku, Sango, and Shippo came flying in on Kilala which my eyes lingered on before fixing my gaze on Kagome.

"Yumi: It really won't be anything new so yeah."

I went to turn and continue on my way.

"Sango: But Yumi, the demons. You have no idea what's out there."

I sighed and looked back at them.

"Yumi: That's life, No one ever knows what's gonna happen or what waits around the corner 'til we run into it."

"Miroku: Wisely said, however none of us would forgive ourselves if you had gotten hurt."

I opened my mouth to speak, but I was interrupted by a furball jumping into my arms. I caught Shippo in my arms and met teary eyes and my heart broke.

"Shippo: Please Yumi, don't go. Please stay with us, at least for a little while?"

Shippo's bottom lip quivered and I let out a long sigh.

"Yumi: I can't say no to that face."

Shippo smiled brightly and hopped out my arms and then jumped on Miroku's shoulder.

"Yumi: Only for a few days. If you haven't noticed I don't play well with others."

I walked up to them and Kagome grabbed my hands and pulled them to her chest with a bright smile.

"Kagome: Neither does Inuyasha, but I'm sure you'll get along with everyone just fine."

I let her drag me to the rest of the group.
