"Annabeth." Jason called, "What was your biggest heartbreak?"

Suddenly she was back in Tartarus. The mouth of it. She was holding Percy's hand in a death grip, and he was holding hers just as tightly.

"We're staying together." he promised. "You're not getting away from me. Never again."

"LIAR" she wanted to scream. How could he say that.

But she didn't know that then. She wished she was as naive as when she fell. She wished she still believed that they'd both make it out alive.

And then she felt them both rendered weightless, as they fell deeper and deeper into hell.

"I'm sorry. What was the question?" Annabeth asked, wiping her eyes with her fists. Her friends were having fun. She couldn't ruin it this time.

"Biggest heartbreak." Frank reminded her.

"Annabeth run! Close the doors! I love you!"

She knew she had no other choice.

She looked at him one last time, his figure trembling with the weight of the doors he was pushing. This would be her last goodbye.

"I love you too Percy Jackson."

The doors were shut. He was gone. She would never see him again.

"I love you too Percy Jackson." she whispered.

"Oh," she said, gripping her necklace tight between her fingers. "can you ask another one?"
