Caroline woke up after that terrible night to birds noisily chirping at the window. They seemed to be trying to tell her something. But Caroline couldn't see that, so she walked over to the curtains and closed them. She was about to wake Eliza up, hoping that she had forgiven her for their fight yesterday. When she went over there though, Eliza wasn't there! Caroline quickly saw the note on her pillow, picked it up, and began to read:

"Dearest Caroline,

I have gone to the city. I need to find out where I am really wanted. Don't come get me. I need to figure this out for myself. I will be fine.

Love,

Eliza"

Caroline dropped the note and quickly started to cry. She had no idea where her sister could be? What if something really did happen to her? Thoughts raced around Caroline's head. She had to go find her. Quickly, she grabbed her jacket from the closet and ran out the door, tears still in her eyes. The Bason's were unsure of what Caroline was doing.

"Cari, dear, umm what seems to be the matter?" Mrs. Bason asked.

"Eliza...She...left..." Caroline said breathless.

"What!" Both of the Bason's exclaimed.

"She is trying to find an orphanage, I have to find her!"

"You aren't going out in that weather! We will take care of this." Mr. Bason said.

"But-!" Caroline protested.

"Don't worry Caroline, we will find her and bring her back. I will leave now."

"But honey!" Mrs. Bason shrieked.

"You shouldn't be out in this weather either. You stay and take care of Paige and Caroline." Mr. Bason explained.

"Yes, but will you be all right?" Mrs. Bason worried.

"Yes. Don't worry, I will be back with Eliza." Mr. Bason said. He then went outside and almost lost his hat in the wind. Luckily, he caught it. Mrs. Bason then closed the door and went to do laundry.

"Bye." Caroline whispered.

Caroline then sat at the door, waiting for Eliza and Mr. Bason's return.
