1st POV | (Y/N)

I nodded back to him in reply, closing the book and bouncing myself off the chair. I placed the book where I was originally sitting and followed Levi out of his office.

As we began making our way to the Mess Hall, I noticed barely anyone in the halls, 'Huh, I guess they must all already be in the Hall... Are we late?'

A light blush grew on my face, thinking I was probably the one responsible for causing us to not be there on time.

Trying to distract myself, I noticed a window. Staring outside, I noticed how dark it was outside. The sun seemed to have set a long time ago, and the moon was full and as bright as ever. I felt the amazement in me grow as I observed the countless glittering stars across the sky. It was beautiful!

I had only been stuck inside this building for not even a whole day- yet I already missed being outside. Roaming around the streets at night and waiting for my mother to call out to me, telling me to go to bed...

A squeak and an apology left my throat as I realised I had abruptly stopped walking and Levi was staring at me a few feet ahead. Although his gaze wasn't a strict one, it seemed to be rather curious.

I shook my head of those thoughts and concentrated on actually following him this time. I didn't want to get lost like earlier...

Eventually we made it to our destination; the Mess Hall. Levi opened the door, standing to the side to let me enter first. I mumbled a thank you and shyly walked to the table we were at earlier.

I felt almost everyone's eyes on me as I kept my gaze on the ground, too nervous to make eye contact with anyone. I heard Levi click his tongue behind me.

. . . . . . . .

1st POV | Levi

I glared at the surrounding cadets staring at the brat. Soon enough, they nervously glanced away and began their own conversations again.

I could practically see (Y/N) shaking like a leaf with each step.

They sat on the bench and almost immediately began conversing with Petra. Good to see they've gotten somewhat comfortable...

I gathered our dinners and passed (Y/N) their tray. A minuscule grin grew on their lips as they looked towards me.

The rest of the squad continued conversing, once in a while asking me a question or two. I didn't answer much and kept glancing over to the brat, as they suddenly became rather quiet. I couldn't help but wonder what had been on their mind.

When we were making our way to the Mess Hall and they got distracted by that window, they had a certain emotion on their face. I wouldn't call it a sad nostalgia, they looked quite amazed at something. It left me staring in wonder at them.

I could ask them about it later. Then again, it isn't exactly my business, is it?

A while later, the Mess Hall grew practically empty, while a select few were left, other than (Y/N) and I.

I grabbed both our trays and put them aside, the brat following me out the door. I led them to their current room and bid them a quiet goodnight.

Once I had made it back to my office, I sat down at my desk and began doing paperwork again. It was basically a routine at this point.

My body went into a sort of autopilot and thoughts about the kid drifted into my head. I doubted they could stay here. I mean, a kid staying at the Survey Corps? It was definitely dangerous in more ways than one. But at the same time, what would we be able to do with them? Just dump them in a random town? They're probably an orphan, for fucksake!

I groaned, a hand grasping my head. Pushing my chair backwards, I decided that sleeping was the better option for now. There's still time to finish the paperwork.

I got into more comfortable clothes to sleep in and laid in my bed. After blowing the candles out beside my bed, I drifted off into a deep slumber rather quickly.

( wow , this was extremely half assed and unmotivated ! hnnfgw sorry , the next chapter will hopefully be better ! )
