Changbin riding in front with Hei-ran and Jisung riding behind them, Minho was left in the back unnoticed by anyone, just as he had wanted. He watched as they galloped over the hills and towards the mountain where Jisung through he was waiting with his older brother.
"It's this way!" Changbin called over the wind as they rode on. "We must hurry."
"Yes," Jisung kicked his horse faster and chased after Changbin.
Minho felt this strang pang in his chest as he watched Jisung so desperate to get to him. He was almost tempted to take off his mask right here and now and hug Jisung so tight, they both forgot how to breathe... but that would mean that Jisung loses the motivation to get to the cave, in which they needed to make sure he got to.
Once Jisung was there, he would also meet Master Sang-hyuk, his father, as well as Minho's older brother. By that time, he would hopefully not be able to leave, since his father is there.
Minho knew that he had changed since Jisung had last met him, training hard with long days and short nights had worn him down into the very core of what made him himself. All the softness had been beaten out of him... would Jisung still love him?
Because Minho knew that he still loved Jisung, but Jisung hadn't seemed to change much. Maybe become more mature, perhaps take more responsibility and become a better leader.
He had only changed for the better. As for himself, Minho was unsure.
"How much farther?" Jisung demanded as he pulled Hei-ran tight to his chest as the wind kicked in. "It's cold out here. Hei-ran might catch a cold!"
"It's alright, Father! I train in the cold!" she grinned.
Minho nearly rolled his eyes. She meant that she liked to pretend she was training with the older kids by running a lap with them and then collapsing and making snow figures in the snow. She didn't train.
"Train?" Jisung also seemed to catch on. "With who?"
"Daddy, of course!" she giggled.
Changbin glanced back. "Jisung..." he spared a glance Minho's way before continuing. "Minho is a little different now. Maybe more... muscular? With a hard exterior. He's the same inside, but on the outside he appears harsher now."
"Daddy's the same," Hei-ran protested, but Jisung stared at Changbin. "Why? What's happened to him?"
"Nothing, sweet girl," Jisung brushed her hair out of her face as she leaned back on him. What was up with her and Jisung? She... she was not even two when they had left... Why was she so comfortable with him?
"We're almost there!" Changbin rode ahead and Minho spotted the cave on the side of the mountain from where he was riding behind them. "They should be waiting for you there."
"Thank you," Jisung let his horse go, taking off past Changbin's horse and into the shadow of the mountain before heading straight into the cave.
"Great," Minho puttered as he sped Danbi up, passing Changbin as well.
"Guess I'll go die in a hole now," Changbin muttered as he slowed his horse to a walk. "I am not being in there when Minho takes his mask off."
Minho chased after Jisung, because he was already in the cave when he caught up. Hei-ran looked back at him as Jisung's horse came to a stop snorting in front of the stable boys. "Was this here the entire time and I didn't notice?" he muttered to himself as he looked around the hallowed space. "That's insane."
"Your Majesty," all the men and women around them bowed deeply as Jisung stood over them, turning to help Hei-ran down from her horse. Confused because Minho hadn't told her what to do after they got back, she turned and looked for him.
