Dysfunctional Family

I hate him. I hated my baby brother...I wish I didn't but I do. He is the reason I can't do anything! Steven is the reason I missed out on so much of my childhood.

I can't do anything because I'm stuck raising him for my dad. I wish Steven was never born. So that I could have been normal. I just want to be normal.

But with the family I have...I'll never have a normal life. I blame it on Steven.

~|Some time in the middle of the night|~

P.O.V: Narrator's

(Y/N) had finally gotten to sleep after finishing the cleaning and finishing homework at the Beach house before, Steven jumped on her wanting his sister's attention. Steven didn't realize how tired his sister was.

"What the fuck Steven?!" (Y/N) yelled pushing him off of her. This caused Steven to start crying just as the Crystal Gems walked in. They were beyond angry with (Y/N) and wouldn't listen to her. She was only there to take care of Steven nothing more.

Pearl grabbed (Y/N) by her ear and told her to apologize to Steven who is holding onto Garnet. (Y/N) winced at the pain in her ear. "F-Fine just let go."

She let go of her.

"I'm sorry for pushing you, Steven..." (Y/N) just wanted to go to bed. Between online school and taking care of Steven, she just wanted a few moments of peace.

"It's ok-"

Pearl interrupted Steven. "It is not okay! We should have never let you live here!"

"Without me here raising Steven he would be dead Pearl. None of you know the first thing about humans." I stomped off outside. Steven followed his sister outside and hugged her.

He noticed how upset she really was "I know I shouldn't have jumped on you...I'm sorry. Please don't hate me."

"Don't apologize..." She hugged Steven and they went inside after the Gems left.

The next morning (Y/N) got up early to start her day. While getting ready she made Steven breakfast. Greg stopped by to check on them.

"Hey, Sweetheart." Greg smiled at (Y/N).  She rolled her eyes. "Hey, dad... If you are looking for Steven he is still in bed."

Greg laughed nervously "No actually I wanted to talk with you...Pearl told me that you hit Steven yesterday..."

"I didn't hit him!!" (Y/N) snapped. "I pushed him because he jumped on me!" She was pissed Pearl would lie about what happened. (Y/N) would never hurt Steven on purpose! She just reacted at the moment. "Calm down. I just wanted to know what happened."

(Y/N)'s yelling woke up Steven. "Dad? (Y/N)? Is everything okay?"

The father and daughter sighed and said everything was fine. Steven then came and ate breakfast. (Y/N) hugged Steven apologizing again.

"Hey, do you think we could go and see what Sadie and Lars are up to today?" Steven asked smiling with pieces of egg on his face. "Yes but I have to finish my homework before we go." (Y/N) replied giving him a napkin.

Steven cheered as (Y/N) got to work on finishing her work. She only had school on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Today was Friday.  Steven sat and watched his sister do her work but soon he got bored and started complaining about how bored he was. This annoyed (Y/N) but she ignored her brother's whines and complaints. She thought to herself "One more year and I'll be graduated and I can leave this place for good..." Then she thought about how Steven would feel if she left.  His feelings made her just feel...bad. (Y/N) didn't want to hurt him. She didn't want him to feel abandoned.

"Why do I care? He is the reason my dad left my mom and the reason I was forced to grow up so fast." (Y/N) thought gripping her pencil so tightly that it broke.

"Okay! Let's get out of here!" (Y/N) was only halfway through her paper but she needed to get out of the house. Steven cheered and Amethyst came out of nowhere. She came with. Out of all the gems...(Y/N) preferred hanging out with her. Cause at least she wouldn't nag at her about Steven.

When we got to a quiet place (Y/N) sat down and watched Steven run around...she got to thinking about the first time she met Rose.

She is tall...

My dad held my hand as he introduced me to his new girlfriend. I'm not sure what to think of her yet. All I know is that she is tall and has lots of pink curly hair.

"Rose this is (Y/N)...(Y/N) this is Rose." My dad smiled nervously. Rose smiled at me. Something didn't seem right about her smile. "Rose will be watching you for a few hours."

I looked back at him sadly. I hated when he left. His job was loud and boring. "Why can't I go with you? I don't want to stay with Rose!" Rose frowned at my words. "Please daddy...I-I don't want you to go..."

Rose looked at my dad and he looked back at her and me. "(Y/N), I promise it will only be a little while..."

Through some tears, I look at him. "Pinky promise?"

"Pinky promise."

[20 minutes later]

Rose brought me over to her friends. They all seemed nice but the bird-looking lady. I think her name is Pearl? That's a stupid name.

Rose's friends Garnet and Amethyst were nice.

"Rose! You can't keep bringing Humans here!" Pearl squawked. Rose just shushed her and Pearl mumbled to herself. Garnet had picked me up and was holding me away from her. I smiled at her. Garnet just put me down and pat my head. Which confused me a bit. Amethyst jumped on me once I was on the ground. I barely had time to realize what was going on before she was giggling in my face and squeezing it. It hurt a lot. I started crying which made Pearl freak out.

Rose picked me up and made me look at her. "(Y/N) what's wrong?! Are you hungry? Tired?" I shook my head. "Amethyst hurt my face." I put my hands on my cheeks as I cried. Rose also started crying which made me panic because I thought I did something wrong...but when her tears hit my skin the pain in my face went away.

I was in complete shock.

[A few hours later]

My dad came back for me while I was sleeping. Rose had taken me for a walk on the beach and sometime between then and lunch I fell asleep. I had woken up in the van. My glow-in-the-dark stars were on the roof and they were the first thing I saw...it made me smile. The stars were the last thing, my mom gave me before she left.
