The Ketchum Twins in Alola

The Guardian's Challenge!

We arrived at the school with Kukui. I decided to let Featherstorm out for awhile. He was perched on my shoulder while Blazestorm was in my arms.

"Alola!" "Alola!"

The three of us walked into the classroom. Everyone greeted us with an Alolan hello.

"Alola!" "Alola." "Char!" "Piki!" "I know guys." "Starting today, Ash and Jordan will be joining us at the Pokémon School. If they have any questions, please don't hesitate to help them out." "I really want to become a Pokémon Master and learn everything about this place." "Pika!" "Glad to be here!" "Pika!" "And I want to be the greatest Pokémon Professor. Being able to study the Pokémon I get along with is a dream and goal of mine." "Then that means you know a lot about them. Right?" "Even better, she can translate what Pokémon are saying!" "Pikachu!" "Charmander!" "Piki!" "I just fed you guys. Fine."

I then walk up to the railing. I spot a flock of Pikipeks and call out to them in their langue. They fly down towards me and hover in front of me.

"Hey, Pikipeks, can you bring me a few berries? I'll help you out in anyway I can if you do." "Piki, piki, piki." "Thank you so much. Hear that guys, you'll get your food." "Char, char!" "Piki, piki!"

The flock fly off and return minutes later with some berries. Then fly off after setting them down.

"Whoa Ash, Jordan, are those Z-Crystals on your wrists?" "Yeah. It's an Electrium Z and Firium Z. Where did you get them?" "Tapu Koko gave them to us." "Tapu Koko?" "No way! You saw it again?" "Uh-huh! Pikachu and I heard Tapu Koko's voice, so we took off after it." "I followed them to get away from mom's get a boyfriend talk." "When we found Tapu Koko, these things just floated down to us. Yup, right out of the sky." "Pika!" "Tapu Koko? How could it have gotten two Z-Rings?" "And then?" "Jordan, tell them what they said." "Whatever. Tapu Koko said Take them, they are a gift from me to you. And that's it, that's what Tapu Koko said." "And that's how it all happened."

Everyone gasped.

"I read about Tapu Koko before. Tapu Koko's very well known as the guardian who likes to help islanders, but it also likes to play tricks and if it thinks it's necessary, it can sometimes even punish them. I also read that on rare occasions it will give gifts to people it likes." "That's great! So that means Tapu Koko really likes you two." "Well, all Pokémon love Jordan- where did she go?" "I'm over here."

They look behind them and see me surrounded by their Pokémon, that are out, and wild Pokémon. They can only see my head.

"See, they love her." "Yeah maybe a bit too much." "Last time this happened, you could even see and hear me. Also, I prefer Pokémon over people." "Is that why you want to be a Pokémon Researcher?" "Yup, just like my friend Tracy and Max. Now I must go back to giving these Pokémon care."

I then sink my head under the Pokémon. (Tell if you find that a bit creepy or funny.)

"Well, Ash is that normal?" "Yup. Once she warms up to you, this will happen less." "Okay." "Kiawe, hold on. You got your Z-Ring..."

I just tuned out the rest, until the Professor spoke.

"So we have a clash between a Thunderbolt and two Flamethrowers. Very nice. All right, class! It's almost time for Pokémon science." "I have to go to class guys, we'll play another time. I promise."

All the Pokémon around me went back to either their trainers or the wild and I stood up.

"Today's teacher is Principle Oak." "Bounsweet!"

I took my seat next to Kiawe and Mallow was on my other side.

"Like this Exeggutor, the Alolan Exeggutor, there are many Pokémon who look different in the Alola region and who are a different type as well."

I wrote down every word he spoke about Pokémon.

"Wow, their heights are totally different." "Their faces look the same." "The reason why Alolan Exeggutor have grown taller is-" "-Alola's climate, right?" "That's right Jordan. You have only been here for two days and you already know that, I'm impressed." "Exeg, Exeggutor." "Awe, that's sweet Exeggutor. You're cute too." "Alola is warm and sunny all year long, so, it's the perfect climate for Exeggcute and Exeggutor to thrive. As a matter of fact, it can be stated that an Alolan Exeggutor looks exactly the way it's supposed to. Of course, this is the result of living in an ideal environment." "Exeg." "The phenomenon of Pokémon developing an appearance based on the region they live in is what we call-" "-regional variant, right?" "Right again Jordan. It's no wonder why my cousin warned me about you and your intellect. Anyway back to the lesson. For example, Exeggutor is normally a Grass and Psychic type." "Psychic type?" "Tell us what type Alolan Exeggutor is like a Machamp!" "Of course, a Grass and Dragon type." "Grass and Dragon? [gasp] Wow, so Exeggutor is a Dragon type, too! Jordan, don't you want one now?!" "Yeah, think of the combo moves I could research."

Ash managed to anger the tail and get sent flying into the ladder then slide down. He grabbed one of the bars.

"Oh, brother." "Yeah, and I'm his older twin. I deal with this all time." "Are you okay?" "The tail of the Alolan Exeggutor has a mind of its own."

I get up and walk over to the tail.

"May I pet your tail Exeggutor, I'll be as gentle as an Audino." "Exeggutor, exeg, exeg." "Thank you so much."

I begin to gently pet their tail and NOT get flung. Their tail felt smooth and a bit fuzzy. The head on the tail nuzzled my cheek, it tickled a bit.

"Wow, they really do love her." "Jordan, you have great potential to be a Professor." "Really, you think so?" "I know so, you can understand what they're saying and they accept you as family." "Wow, do you really accept me as a family member?" "Exeg, exeg, Exeggutor!" "Awe, thank you. You're family to me too."

I hug the Exeggutor's torso and the tail wraps around me.

"Awe, that's cute."

"Hey Jordan."

I turn my head and see Kiawe.

"Yeah Kiawe?" "Think you could come up with a may to calm a raging Tauros?" "That's easy, grip their horns and rub them. Or soak them in water and bathe them. They love it, both ways. Why do you ask?" "I work on a Pokémon ranch-" "CAN I COME VISIT SOMETIME!? Sorry, got excited." "........ Sure. On our day off I'll come get you. Where do you live?" "I live with the Professor. I can't wait. See ya tomorrow Kiawe. Come Blazestorm, you too Featherstorm." "Char!" "Piki!"

Kukui had set a plate of food in front of me and Ash. He then gave the Pokémon some food.

"Whoa! That looks so awesome!" "Pika." "It's called an Alola plate. It's a popular dish in this region. You like it?" "I love it." "Me too, but Brock's cooking is a bit better." "Oh yeah, I think Kukui's cooking is better." "Really? Love at first bite. Glad to hear it." "Hey Jay, heard you got a date with Kiawe." "WHAT!? NO! NO! No! Not true. I just asked if one day I could visit his ranch, he said on our off day he'd come get me and take me there. It's not a date Ash Ketchum." "Okay, whatever you say." "Do you want a Dragon Flamethrower Paulse to the face again." "NO!!!!!! ANYTHING BUT THAT!!!" "Then shut your mouth." "Look at that. Pikachu, Blazestorm, Featherstorm, and Rockruff are already friends." "Cause Rockruff's friendly, too. Thank you." "You're done?" "I've been done. We're fast eaters. I'm gonna go get some training in. Come on you two. But first, smile for the camera Rockruff."

I took out my camera and Rockruff looked at it. They tilted their head a bit and I snapped the photo. It came out perfectly.

"Thanks Rockruff. Training time!" "Does she always take pictures of Pokémon?" "Yeah, she does. Just like Trevor and Trip."

I then bolt outside with Blazestorm and Featherstorm behind me.

"Okay Featherstorm, what are your moves?" "Piki, piki, piki, piki, Pikipek." "Okay so Peck, Pluck, Rock Smash, and Supersonic. Thanks, Blazestorm is it okay to use you as a target?" "Char, char!" "Thanks buddy. Okay, Featherstorm use Pluck!" "Piki, Pikipek!"

We trained till it was very dark out, around midnight, before heading inside. I laid on the couch, Featherstorm perched on a rafter, and Blazestorm curled up next to me. I fell asleep and so did my team.

I was already at the gate of school with everyone else.

"Hey Jordan, where's Ash?" "Yeah." "Oh slept in late, weird because I went to bed around midnight and went to bed before me." "Why so late?" "Training. Had to give Featherstorm battle experience. Right Feather?" "Piki!" "Oh, you train at night. Good to know." "Hey, could I take pictures of all your guys' Pokémon for my friends in Kalos and Unova?" "Sure." "I don't mind." "Yeah, go ahead." "I'd love to see how they come out." "You'll have to wait to see them, I sometimes like adding effects to make them pop out more." "That's fine."

Lana, Mallow, and Sophocles had set their Pokémon down and Kiawe sent out his Turtonator. I took my camera out.

"Turtonator, is possible you could get low to the ground? I would like to get a shot of you low to the ground. I've got an idea on how to make your photo awesome." "Turtonator." "Thanks."

Turtonator got as low as he could and I snapped the photo. I helped him get back up and moved on to Popplio.

"Popplio, let's go to the lake. We're gonna go underwater, don't worry my camera is waterproof, and you're gonna make a balloon. Okay?" "Popplio!" "Okay, then lets go."

Popplio and I dive into the lake. She makes small-ish balloon and I snap the photo. We get out of the lake and go over to our friends. I then snap photos of everyone elses' Pokémon.

"Pi!"

I heard a scream I saw Ash fall backwards.

"Pi?" "What was that?"

We all came into Ash's view.

"Alola surprise!" "Pika..." "Hey, guys. JORDAN WHY DIDN'T YOU WAKE ME UP!?" "I tried, I even had Blazestorm use Ember and you still didn't wake up. Featherstorm used Peck and you still were sleeping. You're more heavy of a sleeper than Snorlax." "Did we surprise you?" "You can say that again."

Kiawe helped him up before standing next to me.

"First off, we decided today would be the perfect day to have a surprise welcome party for you and Jordan. And that's just the first surprise." First one?" "And the next Togedemaru and I want to challenge you two. I'm sure you must know what I mean by that." "No, no he does not." "Challenge? A Pokémon battle, right?" "See. Doesn't get it." "Okay, Sophocles, I accept your challenge!" "And Jordan?" "Sure why not, I already got pictures of your Pokémon."

"Pika?" "Balloons?" "Right! Balloons! Whichever team pops all the balloons first wins the game!" "Pi..." "It doesn't matter who pops them." "Balloons? Pop them first? That'll be a piece of cake!" "Not for you Ash." "Why do you say that?!" "Fire. That does."

"Ready! Go!" "Blazestorm, Flame Burst with Ember!" "Char....mander!!" "Pikachu, Thunderbolt!!" "Pikachu!!!"

Blazestorm popped all the balloons with ease and heat.

"Jordan and Blazestorm win!!" "What!? How?!" "Fire, fire is how." "Wow." "Ready for your third surprise? It's a challenge against us." "No thanks. Blazestorm and Featherstorm hate water, well Featherstorm loves it but it wakes a while to dry off his feathers." "Well Blazestorm is a Fire type."

I then get the feeling someone is watching me. I ignore it and watch as Ash and Pikachu lose.

"I'm proud of you. Great, Popplio. You're amazing." "Popplio can swim at speed of 25 miles per hour." "That's good to know."

I wrote that down.

"Pika... pika?" "Great, Pikachu. You rocked it." "Pika!" "You're so fast Popplio!" "Yeah, I can't believe how fast Popplio moves." "Popplio..." "No duh, Water types usually move faster in water than most Pokémon." "Your fourth surprise is competing against me. One on one on one, what do you say?" "I say..................... you're on." "Yeah!"

Kiawe was in front of Ash, but I was a few feet ahead of them. Tauros is a fast Pokémon. I wasn't even holding on, I was rubbing their horns. The way he went faster, reminded me of a Gogoat from Kalos. I past the finish line before Ash and Kiawe could.

"Jordan wins the race!" "Thanks for the extra burst of speed Tauros, here have a berry." "Tauros!"

I have him a berry that I know all Tauros like. Ash and Kiawe stopped next to me then got off.

"How did you go that fast Jordan?" "It's almost like riding a Gogoat in a way. I wished to win, and Tauros made it happen. I have a way with Pokémon." "Sure seems like it."

They got off their Tauros and stood next to me.

"Pika!" "Thanks for cheering me on buddy." "You two Blaze and Feather. Thanks." "Char!" "Piki!" "Haha!" "Professor Kukui? Hey Rockruff." "Professor, could you send these photos to Kalos and Unova. To Trevor and Trip. Trip is in Unova and Trevor is in Kalos." "Sure thing Jordan. You're now looking at your fifth surprise. If Pikachu, Blazestorm, and Featherstorm agrees, let's have a Pokémon battle." "Whoa! A Pokémon battle? And against Professor Kukui, all right! This is the best surprise of all!" "Pika!" "Sure." "Before that... I'm the poster girl for my family restaurant, so, that means I'm going to prepare us all a little lunch." "Lunchtime? Uh, come to think of it, I'm starving." "Yeah." "I'll help if you want. I did help Cilan, Cress, and Chili out at their restaurant/gym." "Sure that'd be great."

"Lunch is served! Here. Eat up everyone." "Thanks for the food girls." "Jordan made most of it. She's a master in the kitchen." "Well Chili did mange to burn some of the food, so I learned to fix it. Cress and Cilan helped out with that." "I sure miss Cilan's cooking." "Yeah me too." "Delish!" "Yeah, it's good. Mine's a bit spicy." "Mine has a shocking aftertaste." "That's because I made each of your dishes with a hint of something different for each of you." "Ko, ko!!!!" "Huh? Did you guys hear that?" "I did." "It was Tapu Koko." "How can you be so sure." "I remember its cry."

Ash took two steps and Tapu Koko appeared in front of him. He fell backwards.

"Melemele's island guardian. Tapu Koko!" "Jordan was right." "What a sight!" "Beautiful." "I know, Tapu Koko, can I get a picture?" "Koko!" "Ha! Thanks."

I took out my camera and snapped a photo.

"It's great to see you. We didn't get a chance to thank you for the ring. Thank you." "Yeah, thank you." 'Ko, ko." "Char." "Piki." "Pika."

Koko disappeared.

We followed them to a forest clearing. They gave Ash his hat back.

"Ash, I think they want to battle us. Is that right Tapu Koko?" "KO, KO!!!" "alright, Blazestorm crash and burn Tapu Koko!" "CHAR!" "A battle?" "So, their fifth surprise isn't me. Guess it's Tapu Koko instead." "I read about this sort of thing once before. It said Tapu Koko is a very curious Pokémon. Long ago, it would challenge the islanders to a Pokémon battle and Alolan sumo, too!" "Alright you've got yourself a deal. Let's have a battle now!" "Pika!" "Hey Kiawe, do me a favor and record this battle." "Uh, sure." "Great, thanks."

I hand Kiawe my camera and Blazestorm takes her place on the field. Koko used Electric Terrain.

"That's Electric Terrain." "Quick Blazestorm, Double Team times 20!!" "CHARMANDER!!"

She made 20 clones of herself. Tapu Koko used tackle on Pikachu.

"Now use Dragon Flamethrower Paulse!!" "CHARMANDER!!!"

All the Blazestorm clones and herself blew a beam of purple spinning with a beam of fire towards Koko. Koko took the hits as they tried to dodge. The attack badly damaged them.

"Did you see that!?" "That move badly damaged Tapu Koko." "How can a Charmander do that much damage?!" "It's clear as a Sunny Day that Jordan has trained, cared, and raised that Charmander a lot. Blazestorm has the same dream and wish as her trainer, she'll do anything to help her achieve it. That's what I call a trainer's Bound." "Yeah, she does care a lot for Jordan."

Koko used Nature Madness on Blazestorm, who took it like a Machamp! Ash had Pikachu use Thunderbolt, which did hardly any damage. Tapu Koko taps Ash and my Z-crystal and they start glowing.

"You want us to us them?" "Ko, ko, Koko." "Alright, Ash you can go first." "Right! Go! Pikachu!" "Pika. Pika..." "Here we go! Full power now!" "Pika! Pika!"

Pikachu released a huge bolt of lightning.

"The Electric-type Z move!" "That was Gigavolt Havoc! Wow!"

Before it could reach Tapu Koko, I did the Firium Z dance.

"Blazestorm, put all your strength into this. All the rage, firepower, and urges into this and give it your all!!! Inferno Overdrive!!"

Blazestorm created a fireball bigger than the one Turtonator made, and shot it towards Tapu Koko. The two Z-Moves combined and did a whole LOT of damage. Koko's shell, that they were hiding in, was all burnt. Koko came out covered in burns. Koko flew off and Blazestorm started glowing dark and light blue. My eyes grew as Blazestorm was evolving.

"She's evolving guys!" "Wow, she was so powerful as a Charmander and now she'll be more powerful." "How long have you had her?" "For as long as Ash had Pikachu." "And she's only evolving now?" "Yeah." "CHARMELEON!!"

She stopped glowing and I hugged her.

"Alright! I'll take the island challenge trail." "Us too. I'm so proud of you girl. Now I can teach you more dragon moves."

I gave Kukui my camera and printed my photos and handed me them.

"Here you go Jordan." "Thanks, now to send them."

I sent the photos to Trevor and Trip. The professor also gave Ash Pokedex and me a Pokedex Caller.
