It was the middle of physics class when the pass came down for me to go to the office. When I got there I was greeted by the Principle of Clair view High. They had me sit down while I waited to be seen. I sat down next to this kid I have never seen before. Is he new around here? I'm sure I haven't seen him before..
"Ms.Greene, you will be seen now!" Called one of the staff members.
I sigh and walk into the room. I was greeted by a police officer. A million thoughts ran through my mind.
"Ms.Greene, I will keep this short. If you Get in to one more right I am sorry to say but you won't be allowed back here at Clair view."
I nodded. I seriously am trying my best here. When I walk out that kid is talking to a staff member. I hear him say "Second period Physics." Hey that's where I was going.
"I will have someone take you Mr.Jones. says the staff member.
"No need, that's where I am headed." I say.
The lady nods and he walks towards me as we head off to physics.
"So, you must be new." I say
"Yup, just moved here from Tennessee this weekend. The name is Derek by the way." He smiles at me.
"Sammie, well Samantha. Greene. Samantha Greene." I fluster out. He made me nervous, in a good way. His smile was perfect.
"I would offer to sit with you at lunch but I am the laughing stock of the school. I wouldn't go killing your name halfway through the day because you thought I was nice or whatever."
My face drops a little as I tell him this. I actually liked him so far, he could be a real friend. Except that's not realistic for me. We arrive at Physics.
"Go first. I will be in a few minutes later. You don't want people to think we were hanging out."
He looks confused as I push him through the door. A few minutes later I walk in to the room.
"Aww too bad she is back!"
"She did come back, I owe you 5 bucks!"
"She was probably Cleaning her guns just like Tyler did." This girl says laughing.
I pause. Two years later and it still hurts. I can't get in another fight, I can't be kicked out of school. My dad would probably kill me.
"You know what Ashley, go fuck yourself!" I say turning around leaving the room.
"Soo, does this mean I Don't owe you 5 bucks or what?" The dumb jock asks his dumber jock friend.
It is lunch time. I go to the loser table and sit with my head down. I have been thinking about what Ashley said for an hour now, I can't get over it. Fuck her, she means nothing I tell myself. It still fucking hurts. My thoughts were interrupted by a tray slamming down in front of me. I thought it was Ashley so I ignored it, Then a male cleared his throat. I look up.
"Derek? I told you, you shouldn't be... do you want everyone to hate you?"
He looks hurt.
"Sammie, I don't give a fuck what anyone else says about me. I like you, so fuck them." He smiles at me.
I smile back.
"This is the first time I have smiled all week." I say shy looking at the table.
"So, uh, Sammie. why the hell was a cop threatening to kick you out of school?"
"Well, uhh I kinda maybe kicked a cheerleader in the face, and stuff. Okay, I did. Multiple times but hey she had it coming." I say then laugh. He laughs too.
"Don't make fun of me!" I play hit him on the arm.
"No its just... That is the exact reason why I am here. Not a cheerleader of course, just some asshole jocks." He says to me.
For the first time since I have met Derek I feel his pain. I see it projecting into my soul through his hypnotizing blue eyes. I am speechless. We stare at each other blankly for a few seconds. He sends me a weak smile which I return. We both feel each others pain.
