She threw her head back, her beautiful laugh filling the room. I couldn't help but smile to myself. Her friend continued to tell her story, exaggerated faces and hand motions making her laugh even more. I do this everyday, watch Y/N from across the lunchroom. She was a geek, I was a "punk rocker" who always got into trouble. So, if my friends ever had known I was crushing on her, I'd have been breaking every unspoken rule in the book. People like me aren't supposed to like people like her.
The bell rang, snapping me back to reality. I grabbed my things and walked off to class. The people in the hallway parted for me as I walked by. My ripped skinny jeans and shirts, tattoos, and piercing did not help my image. I barely managed a D average, fights with other guys occurring regularly. Detentions were a daily affair, even more added to my horrible permanent record. College was out of the question, my band had started to get bigger. My friends Ashton, Calum, and Michael were in it with me. My band was my main priority, not school. Which explains my horrible reputation I had cooked up for myself. Once you define who you want to be, you can never be anything else.

Later that day after detention, I was laying on my bed thinking about her. My black bedroom walls were covered in band posters, guitars and dirty clothes strewn about. I got up and grabbed my acoustic guitar, a sweet melody escaping the instrument as I strummed the song I wrote for her. It was in that moment I realized I loved her. And there was nothing I could do about it.
