9. Unpleasant Surprise

Amy's POV
We were setting up for Nat's 18th birthday while she and Matt were out in the city distracting her we were busy here decorating for Nathalie's party. I'm so happy for her achievements in her life and that she knows that she's part of this family and she loves us all just like we love her. "Alright guys get ready Matt just texted that they're coming home," Josh tells the family, they all try to fix everything and hide I pass over everything to make sure everything is perfect as I notice everything is perfect I take my spot next to Allan and wait for her to get home.
Nathalie's POV
Matt and I took a walk around the city and he bought me flowers and he said he has something special for me at home. We were on the subway on our way home I was sitting down while Matt was standing up in front of me I lean my head in his hip and close my eyes "Tired?" he asks I nod "well rest for now ok?" he tells me I nod
*15 Minutes Later*
"Babe we're about to get to our stop," he says I open my eyes and stood up and grab his hand we get off the subway and climb up to the street, we continue to talk about things and when we reach the apartment building we open the gate leading to the loft we climb up to our floor and open the door when I step in it was dark so when I turn on the lights my whole family jumps out and yells surprise I jump back in surprised but luckily Matt was there to catch me "OH MY GOD GUYS! You didn't have to do this!" I exclaim "you knew about this?" I ask Matt "Yeah I kinda helped" he replies. I hugged every single one of them and say thank you I come back to Matthew "Thank you for this, you really are the best. I love you" I tell him and hug him then I kiss his lips " I love you too" he replied we pull apart and started to have fun but in the middle of our fun a buzz from the buzzer rang around the room "who could that be?" I ask as I open the door when I face the person who was on the other side of the door. A woman who seemed to be familiar with me. She hugged me but I was confused. Who was this woman and why was she here? She let's go of me and looks into my eyes and says "I'm here, My little Penelope it's me! Your Mother." she exclaims I look at her in shock and I am guessing the whole room was silent with shock "Happy 18th Birthday Nathalie!" she says "did you get my letters?" she continues I couldn't speak I was in complete shock and I could not breathe. I ran into my room with footsteps following me. Why does she have to be here? Tears began going down my face. I heard my door open and a pair of arms hugging me "Shhh, your parents are dealing with her now. they won't let anything happen to you." Matt said, "Why does she have to be here?" I ask " I don't know bubba" he replied I hug him tighter as I cry.

Josh's POV
This woman left Nathalie alone and now she wants her back? I was pissed and I can tell my family was pissed too "I just want her to be with me." she tried to reason with mom and dad "but you left her with us for 18 years!" Mom cries out as I feel the room getting heated with their argument I usher the girls and Auggie and the kids to the kitchen and talk to them "stay here ok? The adults are dealing with something out there and honestly, I don't know where this is heading." I tell them I look around the room and see that they're worried. "Hey, it's going to be alright." I tell them I step in the living room "No she is going to Paris with me! That's where she belongs!" the woman says "But, you didn't even raise her! You just gave birth to her and left her at our doorstep! We tried looking for you! But you never showed up to get her. We took care of her and you're just going to take her away from us?!" mom exclaims "and besides, even if she knows you're taking her back to Paris she's not just going to leave us. We are her family. She's Nathalie Matthews now and she will always be Nathalie Matthews." Dad adds. "the only reason I left her was that I had no money, I couldn't take care of her. Just please let me take her to live with me." the woman begs "I'm afraid that you need to ask her that not us, it's not our decision to make." mom tells her. "But Mom, she's going to take Nat away from us!" I reason with mom "I know Josh, but it's not my decision to make Nathalie is already 18 and she can make her own choices." mom tells me I just nod and leave the room as they talk more. I knock on Nat's door and then Matt opens the door to reveal a sad Nathalie I felt bad for her this was supposed to be her day she was supposed to have fun but that Woman decided to ruin it. "is she gone?" She asks me I sadly shake my head no "what does she want?" She asks as she hugs Matthew "She wants to take you away." I tell her "No! She can't just take me away!" She exclaims "She wants you to be with her and her family." I continue as I fight the tears that are trying to fall I was scared. I'm sad for her. I see Nathalie crying heavily into Matthew's arms and Matthew trying his best to at least lighten up her mood, I storm out of the room and into the living room "Alright, I'm done playing games here. Nathalie will not be joining you in your "picture. perfect family" because she already has a family here and she loves us and we love her. So I suggest you leave our property before I call in the cops and have them force you to leave. You are disrupting the peace of this family and you ruined Nathalie's Birthday. So I'll say this one last time. Leave." I tell the woman who left my sister for a better life. "this is not the last time you'll see me! I'll bring in my lawyers!" she states as she steps out of the house. "I'll go get Nathalie." I tell everyone I climb the stairs to Nathalie's room "Hey Nat, she's taken off." I tell her "ok, but I don't feel so well." she tells me "want me to call off the party?" I ask she shakes her head no "mom and dad put a lot of effort into this so I'll be down in a few minutes." she replied I nod and went downstairs "She'll be down in a few minutes." I tell everyone. Then mom asks "how is she?" "she's not doing well. I think we should just eat and watch movies with her." I tell them. They all nod and quickly rearrange the living room into a movie room. I hope this fixes everything.
