Glass Hearts ||L.T||

-Prologue

This was the moment. I was going to walk up to him, and I was going to kiss him like my entire existence depended on his lips being met with my own.

"TEN!"

I was going to just grab his face, and kiss him. Simple...

"NINE!"

It was cold, but I wasn't shivering on behalf of the weather. I was nervous. I had never pursued a male before. I didn't even talk to most men, much less kissed them.

"EIGHT!"

I had made sure no females were with him, and when he took his phone out to use, I saw that he didn't have any sort of ring on his finger. He looked single..

"SEVEN!"

It was so loud, and my heart was bumping. It was very hard to walk through the swarm of people, but I did my best. He was only a few people away from me.

"SIX!"

I don't know why, but I'm excited. I'm excited that I, Riley Fuentes, am about to lose her very first kiss with a stranger on New Years Eve. This is everything I've thought about for many, many years. And to think that I'll have my first kiss with a man I got to choose, and in New York of all places.... my hearts beating a million miles a minute.

"FIVE!"

The ball is nearly at its destination, so I make my way to stand right next to him.

"FOUR!"

I listen as everyone counts down the seconds.

"THREE!"

This is it... it's going to happen.

"TWO!"

I stand right in front of him. His face is so... beautiful. His eyes are shining brightly, and his smile is so genuine... he doesn't even notice me, but it's too late to back down now.

"ONE!"

I somehow get my hands on his face, and I pull him down to my height.

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!!"

I kiss him, hard. I don't know what I'm doing... and he's not exactly reacting the way I had imagined.

Wait.

Wait...

He's doing it... He's kissing me... He's actually kissing me back..

It feels wonderful.

I pull away and breath heavily. I look into his eyes, and his eyebrows are rose.

"Wow," he mutters.

I can feel my cheeks burn up, and he has a smile on his face.

Everyone around us is celebrating, and yelling, and kissing, and....

He pulls me by the nape of my neck and reconnects our lips.

This is... by far greater than what everyone claims it to be.

He's the one to pull away this time, and gives me a grin.

I'm still in awe of everything, and the next thing I know, I'm walking through the crowd to get away from the man who is trying to call me back.
