Once again, my mother and I both hugged Harry and Anne goodbye, waving as they got into their car. I let out a heavy sigh, shutting the door behind them. My mom sat down on the couch, turning on the telly, as she said something before I walked out of the room. "Avery, Harry and Anne invited us to go shopping tomorrow if you'd like to come. Harry said if you didn't want to, Anne and I could just go and you kids could hang out at his house. I smiled, and frowned at the same time. I hated when my mom called us 'kids'. We were eighteen. Not twelve. "Sure, I guess we can go to Harry's since I haven't been there in so long. Anyway, I'm going to bed, night mum." I said, hugging her. "Night baby doll." She said. I went in the bathroom, combed my hair, brushed my teeth, and flipped off the light. My eyelids began to feel heavier by the minute. As I climbed into bed, my feet freezing off, I heard a sudden noise. Bing! It was my phone, which was across the room. I was almost to tired to even get up and grab it, but then from where I was sitting I could see that it was a message from Harry. It read:

NEW iMESSAGE:

11:36pm

Harry: Hey Avery. Just wanted to say I had loads of fun tonight. I missed seeing my bestfriend. Thanks for everything. xx

I smiled, slowly trying to clear my vision as I tried to reply. "I had a lot of fun too. I missed seeing my bestfriend :) It's been too long. I hope you come home more often." As soon as I hit the send button, I was slowly being pulled into a deep sleep.

"Avery-" My mom said, choking on tears. I begged her to say the words, but at the same time, I feared the words I knew were coming. "Your. father." She said, gasping for air between each breath. Hot, salty tears came flowing, before I could have the chance to say anything. "Mum! Tell me!" I screamed. "Honey, I'm so so sorry." My mom said, covering her face with her hands. I could not bear this any longer. "He's dead." Those two words she spoke, changed my life. I had no response. I knew it was coming. But how? Why? Why couldn't it have been me?" "THIS IS NOT REAL, THIS IS NOT HAPPENING!" I screamed. Each word made the lump in the back of my throat a hundred times worse. It was true. My Father really was dead.

I woke up, my head pounding, and my palms sweating. I cried, burrying my face deep into my pillow. I felt almost as if that whole day was re-occuring. I hadn't had many dreams about my dad's passing, but this one had to be the worst. It was exactly what had happened. Exactly that image. Exactly that feeling. I wiped the tears from my eyes, looking in the mirror and realizing my eyes were red and swollen. I splashed water on my face, hoping to feel relief. Nothing. I walked over to my phone to check the time. There had been a message from Harry sent at 11:47 last night. I opened and read:

NEW iMESSAGE:

11:47pm

Harry: I will always come visit you. Goodnight, Avery. I love you.
