I can see her eyes starting to fill with tear so I drop the topic, hoping to avoid an awkward situation. But then there is a long moment of silence.

Once I finally get the courage to speak. All of the lights, flicker at the same time, and I hear a rush in the hall, Eleanor and Charlie hop up reach under their beds and both grab small cosmetic bags that look like they are about too fall apart at the seems. I ask them what is happening but Charlie keeps walking, Eleanor finally stop and yells "Charlie hold my spot in line!". Before she turns around and says " we need to get ready for lights out" I respond "oh,  I was rushed out of my home so fast I didn't bring anything with me besides the clothes on my back." She walks over to me and says "newbies rarely have stuff with them when they come, so they have pretty much have a free store in the main office. But I'd hurry if I were you they close in 10 minutes and lights out is in 15."

Then Eleanor turns and runs out of the room to find Charlie. I am right behind her and she shouts "there are maps where you came in" and points down the hall.

I struggle against the crowd to get to a map and get out. Once outside I stop, and find the quickest route to the main office. After about 3 minutes of sprinting I'm in front of the entrance. I walk in and the first thing I see is a security camera, directly above a front desk.

I walk up to a man in a custodial outfit sitting behind the desk and ask "where are the toiletries?" He walks over to an aisle with one other kid in it. He is an extremely attractive boy with dark brown hair that falls perfectly and bright blue eyes. The custodian points at one of the prepared bags and underneath is a sign out sheet. "He says write your name here", and points at the next blank space. I grab the pen and write Samantha Edwards as neat as I can. I turn around to find the boy glance at my name, look at me, and smile.
