I have a companion book on my @VictoriaKaer profile with writing tips. This book will cover some basic elements of cover design as well as some dos and don'ts of design. I also have information about requesting from a designer here on Wattpad.

Let's take a few minutes to discuss watermarks. Some people don't understand the difference between a watermark and the author's name on the book.
A watermark is a way you can sign your work. A watermark can be anything you choose. A line of text or an image, or a combination of the two. When you place a watermark on something it isn't meant to be in your face. If your watermark is more noticeable than the author's name or the book's title then you're doing it wrong.

I made this cover for another user here on Wattpad. My watermark is in the upper corner of the cover. It's very subtle and could be easily overlooked. And that is the point. It's simply a way to identify the graphic as mine. I had someone steal a design, my watermark was at the top of the cover and what she really wanted was the text that I had designed that was at the bottom of the cover. She hacked the text off the bottom and slapped it onto a similar background. Since that incident, I now place two watermarks on all my graphics. One that is more obvious and one that is hidden so I can hopefully prevent any future thefts.
