Demented (Gravity Falls)

Chapter 21

Mabel's POV

   I was sleeping soundly until I heard a rustling. I peeked one eye open to see Soos sneaking off into the kitchen. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. What was he up too? I got up and followed him. "Soos!" I whisper yelled. He stopped and turned.

   "Oh hey girl dude. I was just looking for a midnight snack." Soos explained.

   "Mind if I come?" I asked.

   "Sure." Soos smiled. So the two of us continued to the kitchen.

   I halted when I saw someone else already in there. I halted Soos. "Duck!" I whispered and pulled him down behind a counter. We peered out and I gasped when I saw Dipper. What was he doing up? Maybe he was getting a snack too. No, he looked too suspicious.

Dipper's POV

   I thought I had heard a noise but paid no mind. I smoothed my coat and focused on the task at hand. I went to the cup board where Stan kept the matches. I pulled one out of the box and looked at it. Then I looked at the sleeping family. I then struck the match and put the flame close to the kitchen window curtain. It caught light, and as soon as it did I heard a voice yell, "Dipper no!"

Mabel's POV

   I was confused when I saw Dipper light a match. Then both Soos and I gasped when he set the curtain on fire. What was he doing!? "Dipper no!" I yelled at him. He turned towards our hiding place and I swore I saw a look of sadness that switched to panic for a quick moment on his face.

   "No! You were supposed to be sleeping!" Dipper said frantically.

   "What are you talking about!? What are you doing!?" I screamed at him. Dipper ruffled his hair and looked at the spreading fire that was huge and bright.

   "Why? Why!" He said to himself. Soos ran to where the rest of the family was sleeping.

   "Dudes wake up! Fire!" He yelled. Wendy woke up alarmed.

   "What's going on?" Grunkle Stan woke up.

   "Fire!" I shouted. Grunkle Stan ran to the kitchen and began filling cups of water. He passed them to me and Wendy and we threw them at the fire. I started crying when I realized why Dipper had done this. My brother was gone. He was trying to kill us! All the while Dipper stood there, and I thought he was smiling. He must enjoy seeing us trying to save our lives.

   I coughed as the smoke came. Finally the fire was out. "Is everyone alright?" Wendy asked.

  "I-I think so." I replied.

  "The whole shack would have perished along with us if you two hadn't been awake to see the fire." Grunkle Stan said. "How did this happen?" I looked at Soos who was frowning at me. I couldn't stop the tears as they came. This was going to put my brothers life in jeopardy. Was he even still my brother? He just tried to get rid of us.

   I wiped my eyes. I knew what I saw. So did Soos.

Bill's POV

   I was enjoying this. 'Oh Pinetree you never seem to fail me. Ahahahaha!' I laughed. Now what would Shooting Star do?
