I walked home. Alone.
Naturally.
And I was scared.
Because it's dark.
Again, naturally.
When I went through the front door, I saw Zach, in the kitchen, eating an apple. I guess he didn't see me, because he didn't even knew I was there.
Or maybe it's because he's ignoring me.... yeah, that's probably it.
When I went to the first step of the stairway I stopped by his voice.
"Why are you coming in late??" He said, low, but you can still tell he had power behind them.
"Because of certain reasons." I managed to say.
"So certain reasons made you come in at 10:02 when it is snowing and dark," he looked at me with his cold eyes.
"Y-yes. I- wait, are you staying up for me?"
He laughed, like, literally laughed. "no, why would I do that to an idiot."
That hurt.
"I was just done with homework and I'm just getting a snack."he simply said, holding his apple. he went over to me and pushed me to go upstairs.
"Oh" he turned to me, looking at my shirt. shoot!! Forgot I got ice cream on my shirt.
"I'm going to take a shower, so don't come in the bathroom."then he went up the stairs and I heard a shut of a door slam.
I looked down at my shirt again and I felt cold.
When I went to my room, I fell on my bed and relaxed, without changing. I looked around the room and wonder.
How long am I staying here? I saw the pink curtains and the walls and windows. I looked at my closet and my bookcase. then I looked at my drawer. Behind the picture of dad and I of us in a fishing camp, I saw the letter I wrote for Zach. I still remember when I wrote that. I still how I wrote my name at the very end, making it cursive and nice.
And how I put my own personal perfume on the letter. I smiled, thinking of how happy I was to finish the letter and giving it to Zach.
I felt something wet down my cheek, thinking how he rejected me. seeing his cold eyes down on me. I cried, thinking that he will never be mine.
-------Zach's p.o.v-----
When I got out of the shower, I got dressed and brushed my hair. when I got out of the bathroom, I went to Katie's room and opened the door.
"Hey, bathroom's open." I said. I looked at Katie and saw her asleep on her bed without the covers over her. The moonlight from the window shined on her face, making her outlines clear.
I went over to her bed and sat down on a chair. seeing her like this makes me think the first time I first saw her.
She was in 8th grade and I was walking down in a hallway. I was talking to Cody and Cole when I saw a kid beating up another kid. when I tried to ignore it, Katie came up to the buff guy and told him to stop.
When the kid pushed her away, she still stood up. I never seen a girl who would be brave enough to stand up to a big guy.
Katie moved and moaned on her bed. I looked at her and I saw drool coming out of her mouth.
Seriously, she acts just like a dude. I pull the covers over her, as she makes herself comfortable. when I heard a crumble, I saw a piece of paper next to her hand. being careful not to wake her, I grabbed it. The paper had holes and stains across it.
i opened it up and saw paragraphs and saw my name on it.
Dear Zach,
Hi! My name is Katie and I like you. even though we never really actually met, I want to meet you. From what I hear, you are kind and smart. that makes me want to know you. I hope you want to know me too.
A person who likes you,
KatieI held the paper between my fingers and then I glanced over to Katie.
She is attractive, sure. but most girls at school are attractive too. she may be one of the girls who just wants me for a few Days and then move on to another guy, one of the girls who is a drama queen and always get what they want. I got up and put the letter on her desk, Next to her picture of her and her father.
I saw her smiling, holding a fish next to her face.
I suddenly felt a twist of warmth In my chest. Her smile was bright and her eyes shine.
I looked back at Katie in her bed, thinking how she can be happy all the time.
