By the time everyone meets in the food court for dinner the whole school knows that I’m Landyn Martins. It’s odd to think that just because of my last name I’m famous. For crying out loud I didn’t do anything. Well, it’s not like I’m complaining or anything. But still, it’s hard to do anything in any dimension. Everyone expects everything from me.

“Hey, Landyn,” everyone greets as I sit down at our table with pepperoni pizza.

“Okay, we need a game plan,” Nola states, “Since the campus is sending our class to live in the same house. We are going to have to end up having roommates considering the houses here have up to only five bedrooms.”

“That means we are all going to have to room with someone,” Amelia says excitedly. “I call Liam!”

Ivan chuckles and leans on the table. He winks at Amelia causing her cheeks to flush. “I call Sophia,” he states calmly. “No ifs, ands, or buts.”

“I call Mika,” Harper shouts standing up. Everyone chuckles and Harper’s face flushes. “Not for what you all are thinking.”

“Yea, right,” Alex chuckles, “He’s so gonna fuck you in that room. Also, I call Mia.”

“That leaves Landyn and Nola,” Ivan chuckles. “Good luck with Stevens, Martins.”

Nola looks up angered. “Oh fuck no,” she frustrates, “there’s no way in fucking hell I’m staying in a room with his spoiled ass.”

“I was not spoiled,” I state, “you don’t know anything about me.”

Nola glares at me. “I know that you will get what you want from anyone here because that’s how it works,” Nola hisses angrily, “Your name is famous so you won’t have to work to get what you want like the rest of us.”

I glare at her as thoughts of my childhood come up. A flashback quickly overtakes me.

“Landyn, hun,” mom said kneeling down, “You more than likely won’t be able to travel.”

It’s my twelfth birthday and I thought that this would be the year that I would be able to finally travel. I thought this would be the year that I would be like mom, Layana, and dad. All I’ve wanted since I was six was to be able to travel. Mom’s word stung hard and I didn’t know what to do. I don’t want to live on Earth. I want to join the DHA and help different dimensions. “Mom, I will travel.” I stated matter of factly, “I will work harder than any DC out there and become one. I won’t stop until I do.”

I snap out of the flashback to a hit to the back of the head. “Huh?” I mutter, rubbing my head.

“You zoned out, dude,” Mika states.

I glare at Nola and stand up. “You don’t fucking know what I’ve been through or had to work for,” I practically yell. The whole school looks over at our table but I don’t care and keep going. “You didn’t have to work your ass off to be able to travel. I didn’t start traveling until I was 15. So shut your fucking mouth up and stop thinking I’m better than everyone. Because that’s bullshit and I hate it.” I look around the lunchroom and yell so everyone can hear me. “None of you act like I’m better than you or treat me differently than you would a normal fucking being. Because you know what I am the fucking same as the rest of you.”

I get up off the table and storm out of the room. I’m done with this. I’ll find my own way. I’m not going to sit here with Nola acting as if I’m different than her because I’m fucking not. Some grabs my arm and I whip around glaring at them. “What the fuck was that, Landyn?” Ivan hisses at me.

I glare at him. “What’s it to you? Not like you give a fuck.”

“Stop being yourself and look for a second. You just yelled at the whole school. That’s going to come back and nip you in the ass.”

“Ivan, I don’t give a fuck whats going to happen it doesn’t matter.”

He grumbles something and looks at me calmly. My anger flares even more. “Landyn, think about the advantage our group would have if you didn’t say that. Think of all the things we would’ve been able to accomplish.” A smirk plays on his face and his eyes flash a different color.  He grabs my arm gently. “Landyn, just come with me and I can show you what it’s like to get what you want.”

This isn’t Ivan, I think to myself. The air begins to shift slowly and I pull back. “You aren’t Ivan,” I whisper, stepping back slowly. The person's eyes change again. Anger flashing through the deep blue eyes. Their whole body changes to a boy with black hair with neon green highlights. “Fuck, it’s a shifter.”

The boy jumps at me and I travel to the other side of him. “Landyn, we need you on our side,” he yells. “You don’t understand that we are trying to help you and everyone here. You don’t know what’s coming.”

I look at him dumbstruck. “Well, I don’t give a fuck what’s coming. I do know I don’t want to work with a shit ton of shifters.” I stand ready to fight. “I’ve got my perks.”

“You don’t even know who you are!” He exclaims facing me. “We can teach you to control it. It’s not hard you just have to have the patience to learn.”

“I know how to control my DC abilities. I don’t need to be taught how to control that.”  I throw a punch at him which he dodges. “You have nothing to teach me.”

He sighs and I hear some people coming this way. The boy jumps at me and shifts us to a different room. I look around confused. “Damn it,” he mutters, looking around, “Where the hell are we?”

I look around and slowly recognition sinks in. A smirk slowly covers my face and I stand up quickly in a fighting position. “I know exactly where we are,” I say quickly. “But of course I’m not telling you.”

He moves closer to me getting ready to fight but I grab a dagger. “Where the fuck did that come from?”

“A simple trick if you know how to use your abilities properly. Of course, not many people are taught how to do that or are even able to.”

I slash the dagger at him and cut his arm. “Fuck, I need to learn how to do that,” he mutters rubbing his arm. He throws another punch at me and misses me just barely. “I thought they said you weren’t trained.”

“Wherever you got your information they were wrong,” I replied quickly. “It was nice seeing you. But I need to go.”

I begin traveling and feel something grab onto me. I arrive in the woods somewhere and look around. “Where the fuck did you take us?” I yell, as he smirks and looks around.

“Landyn Martins, welcome to Germine,” he says looking around holding onto me tightly. “As you know, time moves slower here.”
