"It's just one of those days..." Ezgi thought to herself as she walked past her favorite coffee shop by her workplace. Her old workplace.
Just few minutes before, her boss decided to let her go without further notice, replacing her with Esma, the new secretary he was sleeping with. Needless to say that Esma was not familiar with any of the job requirements, unless crawling under your boss' table was considered one of them.
Ezgi felt upset and disheveled, she had spent the past four years of her life giving her all to Sweet Party Events, and instead of the luxurious promotion that she deserved so badly, all she was left with was a banged up cardboard box with her very few belongings from the office.
"I can't wait to fall into Soner's arms and just call it a day." She sadly said to herself as her phone rang.
On the other line was her beloved cousin Cansu, waiting to find out all the final details about the surprise party Ezgi has been planning for Soner's 30th birthday for the past few months.
"I cannot believe this jerk! I hope his wife finds out about his little office buddy!" Cansu said in anger. She felt terrible for Ezgi.
"Ahh Cansu, what can I say. I'm just so grateful for having such a loving relationship with the world's greatest man. What else can I ask for?" Ezgi said and finally allowed a tiny smile slip away through her sad gaze.
"Do you think he's going to propose to you on his birthday, cousin? Do you?! Did you check his phone? Check in his underwear drawer! That's where all men hide their rings!" Cansu shouted through the phone in excitement making Ezgi jump up.
"Cansu relax! What are you talking about... No way! Wait... do you really think?... Oh my God I think you may be right!" Ezgi covered her mouth and opened her big hazel eyes in surprise. After all, Soner has been very secretive lately, quietly whispering on the phone, and acting all kinds of different. Ezgi didn't pay much attention to his behavior, after all she was never the type of woman to question her man or think badly about anything; but now it all made perfect sense. Soner has been planning to surprise her with an engagement ring, finally after three beautiful years together, he was going to pop the question and make her his wife. There was nothing she wanted more than to be married and have a family. She just turned 30, and it seemed like the perfect time for her to get on the marriage wagon and float into the sunset.

Ezgi and Soner met at a party with some mutual friends just days after her boyfriend decided that she was "too nice for his liking and he had to break up with her because her calm nature made him feel like an asshole." Ezgi didn't see that one coming. Completely dumbfounded.
Soner actually picked up crying Ezgi from the party and asked her if she wanted to take a walk along the water. After wiping off her red nose and pretending not to see her friends' pitiful stares, Ezgi gladly agreed to take a walk with him. From first impression, Soner seemed like a sweet and decent guy, complete boyfriend material and just what the doctor prescribed for her broken heart.
Within a week, Ezgi found herself head over heels in love with Soner, counting the minutes for him to call, anxiously waiting by her window every time he picked her up for a date.
Soner seemed to like Ezgi a lot as well. She was good girl from a hardworking family, always smiling and in good spirits, never arguing, and ready to cater for all of his needs.
As time passed by, Ezgi fell more and more in love with Soner, although their relationship seemed pretty mundane. Soner never had to go out of his way to impress her, and she never really expected much of him. She was the one initiating the little romantic gestures, while he was just a silent partner in their calm ordinary relationship.

After Ezgi's father left her and her mom at a very young age, all Ezgi ever wanted was a man to love and protect her. The exact opposite of the lame excuse of a man who brought her into this world.
Her mother always told her: "Never settle for just an ordinary guy, learn from my mistakes and find an extraordinary man who can be your partner, your lover, but most of all- your best friend." Easier said than done. Ezgi was so afraid of never meeting the expectations of her mom, that she often found herself in meaningless relationships with unworthy men.

"Soner is so different." She thought to herself as she picked up balloons for his upcoming birthday party and headed back to the cozy apartment they shared together.
