It had been months since the first meeting between Seungmin and the mysterious boy, and he had never seen him again. Time kept going and everything seemed as normal as ever, but Seungmin kept thinking about him. He had begun to look for him, but he seemed to have disappeared into thin air. Moreover, none of his friends had recognized his description.

Seungmin had also applied to the principal to create an extra-school club on the atmospheric study of rain, hoping that he would enroll, but it had been rejected.

And then one day they met again. It was evening and Seungmin was standing in the southern part of the suburb of the city. His grandparents lived near the train tracks, and sometimes he visited them to spend time with them. He was sitting on a bench in the park not far from his grandparents' house when it happened.

It has to be said that the benches in that park were not very big, and that’s why there were different ones. But he sat right on the same bench as Seungmin. They stayed there, sitting on that little bench, in silence. The glances of both staring at the sunset that was seen through the branches of the trees. The only thing for Seungmin that was out of tune was the accelerated heartbeat of his heart.

He realized that he had a certain attraction for the boy whose life was still shrouded in mystery, and the constant search to find him to even thank him for the umbrella had made him understand that maybe he had fallen in love. After all, love is strange. You find yourself loving someone you’ve never spoken to, for no apparent reason. But it is one of the most outstanding qualities.

Seungmin turned to look at him and at the exact moment he did, the other spoke.

"Hwang Hyunjin."

Seungmin there did not understand what he had said to him, so he asked a shy "w-what?"

The boy, Hyunjin, turned to look at him with a shy smile on his face.

"it's my name. Hwang Hyunjin."

"o-oh! Mine is Kim Seungmin."

Hyunjin came back to watch the sunset, which was slowly taking the pink colour of peaches.

"I know. Everyone in my class knows you."

Seungmin frowned, not knowing what he meant.

"You are the boy who in the hour of singing moved the Park."

Seungmin shook his head, as if to drive away a bad thought.

"He is easily moved. I don’t have such a beautiful voice."

Hyunjin turned around and stared him in the eyes, taking him by the hand.

"Don’t even say it! I’ve heard you sing in person and you have an angelic voice, to say the least."

Then realizing what he had just said, he took his hand off Seungmin’s and moved slightly back.

"the day it rained, when I lent you the umbrella. You were humming softly. I stayed to listen to you a little before coming out."

Seungmin blushed with embarrassment. A little smile on his face. But this time it was not a shy and awkward smile, no. This time it was a bitter and disappointed smile. His life had always been founded on false friendships that were constituted only by the beauty of his voice. Which he didn’t even think was very special, thought. But you can't explain that to the dozens of people who want to be friends just because you have a particularly sweet voice.

The only one who until now was really his friend was Felix, who had never heard him sing. He hoped that Hyunjin would not approach him just because of his voice and that he did not want the same things as all the selfish people he had met in the course of his life, but it was a hope too great even for him.

In the end, people always want the same thing, right?

He turned to look at Hyunjin, ready to end that conversation. He felt bitter, for the first time he fell in love with someone and as soon as he spoke to him he discover that he's as selfish as the others.

"Listen Hyunjin... If you want to be friends only for my voice do not even try to pretend sympathy-"

"oh, no no! Believe me when I say you have a beautiful voice, but that’s not why I’m talking to you."

Isn’t that why? Seungmin asked himself and then for what?

Hyunjin seemed to read his mind and continued to speak.

"Well... I recently moved in. I was quite popular at my old school, but only because of my looks. No one ever wanted to be friends with me for who I was, so I switched schools and moved in with an old relative. When I heard that in my class they were talking about you, I admit I was a little curious, but when I met you... I don’t know, you seemed unhappy. And I thought maybe-"

"You thought that maybe the same thing happened to me."

Seungmin interrupted him, and Hyunjin nodded slowly, looking at him.

"But I was too shy to talk to you right away... what if you were like the others? But then seeing you focused on the rain, humming... changed my mind."

Hyunjin started playing with his sweatshirt sleeve and shifted his gaze back to the sky.

"So, would you like to be my friend?"
