Richie sat in his room, staring out the window to see if anything interesting was happening on the streets of Derry. There wasn't any really, which Richie knew but he always kept an eye out if something ever happened.
He had just gotten back from school and appreciated the cold breeze drifting through his room from the fan. The sun hadn't hidden behind a cloud once.
Richie sighed and adjusted his glasses out of boredom. He had tried contact lenses once but hated them and regretted asking his Mum for some. He had wasted her money and he hadn't forgiven himself for it.
The sun kept glaring down at him, his eyes squinting. All of a sudden he gasped and scrambled to sit straighter. A boy was walking past his window, jumping over the cracks of the concrete path and holding some red flowers in his hand. Richie smiled to himself and blushed. He looked so beautiful. He had an urge to run out of this house and stand in front of the boy, take the flowers and gently place one in his chocolate hair.
The boy wore a pastel yellow and pink shirt. It was striped and it looked more of a sweater than a shirt. He was also wearing jeans and Richie spotted a rainbow band on his wrist. He admired the boys confidence since the only thing Richie wore was white shirts with a Hawaiian jacket covering it and denim shorts or jeans.
Before he knew it, the boy was gone and Richie was back to sitting in his room, his mind constantly full of the brunette and never strayed away to anything else. He knew it wasn't healthy but he couldn't help it.
For the next few weeks, he rushed home and sat behind his window, looking for that one boy that would cross the path in front of his house. Every time he did come, he was always holding the bundle of pretty red flowers. Richie thought it was cute and never got bored of gazing at him.
Once the boy felt Richie's gaze on him and he looked around, only to glimpse a flash of jet black hair shooting down under the window. He only shrugged and kept on walking, thinking all he saw was a trick his eyes were playing on him or a strange cat.
Another week went by and Richie still sat there. In his mind he was always repeating red, red, red. As soon as the boy came into his vision a smile grew onto his face as he watched him walk by. This time he was dancing, bouncing up and down and spinning in the air as he skipped down the path. But what he didn't notice was the branch that had fallen down last night. The boy was too busy listening to his music to notice it. Richie realised what was going to happen and he rushed downstairs and out the door, just in time to see the boy trip and face plant onto the rough surface of the footpath.
Richie ran towards him and reached out his hand, hoping the brunette would take it. And he did, with a confused expression on his face.
"Are you okay?" Richie asked. His eyes skimmed over the other boy's face, noticing a few cuts and grazes on his freckled skin.
"Yeah, yeah. I think so." the boy replied and he winced as he brought his hand up to his face, feeling the minor injuries.
"Mhm, totally. Stay here, I'll be right back." Richie said and he ran back inside his house, coming back out with a first aid kit in his hand.
"I'm fine, seriously-"
"Stay still," Richie muttered while he cleaned up the brunette's face.
He winced a few times and Richie would always mumble a small "Sorry..." before going back to his task.
Once he was done Richie packed up the kit and looked at the boy again. "I'm Richie."
"Um... Eddie," the boy replied, smiling warmly. "thank you,"
"No problem, Eds," Richie said.
Eddie rolled his eyes in response to the nickname. His eyes then lit up and he brought the flowers up so Richie could see them properly.
"Have these, I don't know how else to say thank you." Eddie insisted and Richie's cheeks flushed a deep red.
"It's okay, you keep them-"
"Nope, you're taking them." Eddie said and kept holding them out in front of him. "They're Poinsettias."
"Po- what?" Richie's eyes narrowed and Eddie giggled, which made the ravenette blush even more.
"Poinsettias," Eddie repeated and Richie mouthed the word.
"What if I don't take them?" Richie asks.
"Then I'll shove them into your hands." Eddie answered and Richie chuckled.
"Fine, I'll take them." Richie caved in and took the flowers from the brunette. Their hands brushed for a split second and both of them blushed.
"Well, Um Eddie, I have to get back inside. I'll see you soon?" Richie said after a few seconds of silence.
"Yeah, see you soon." Eddie waved goodbye and then pushed his earbuds back in, smiling softly at the sound of music filling his ears as he walked away.
Richie walked back inside of his house, clutching the flowers tightly as he shut the front door and ran into his room. This time shutting his own door and sliding down the back of it.
Eddie.
I finally met him. His name is Eddie and he has the most cutest laugh and an adorable smile.
Eddie,
He brings Poinsettias every day past my house, and I finally talked to him.
Richie smiled and sighed, not wanting to go back to the stillness of his dull room but wanting to talk to Eddie again. Wanting to see his smile and hear his voice. He wanted to buy him everything in the world. Even though he just met him properly, he felt that he would do anything to protect him. He knew it sounded silly and childish but he didn't care.
Richie slid the flowers into an empty vase his mother had given to him for his birthday once, glad to finally use it. He then picked up his water bottle and poured some water into the vase so the flowers wouldn't shrivel up.
Now he had to wait till tomorrow to see him again.
HIIIIIIII! I hope you enjoyed the first chapter even though it is a little short. I love every single one of you who took the time to read this. Remember to stay hydrated and eat well >:(
