Eddie walked home with a bright smile on his face. He was glad Richie had cleaned him up because his Mother would never have forgiven him for coming back to her in a state like that. Even if it was just a few cuts. He sighed as his eyes found the familiar door to his house. He reluctantly walked inside and was greeted with his Mum, standing with what looked like a worried look on her face.
"Eddie Bear! Why did you take so long? You should've been back twenty minutes ago!" Eddie's Mum rushed to him, cupping his cheeks and looking around his face for any injuries. Luckily, Richie had done quite a good job and she didn't notice anything.
"Mum-"
"You call me Mummy, Eddie." Sonia reminded him and he sighed quietly.
"Mummy, I'm okay, can I go to my room now?" Eddie asked and Sonia shook her head.
"You need to take some pills." she walked over to the kitchen counter and picked up a large orange cylinder.
"What do I need them for?" Eddie immediately regretted saying that and shut his eyes tightly, knowing what could be coming.
"You are sick and you need them, take them now." Sonia said and Eddie was surprised she hadn't yelled at him.
"Okay..." Eddie muttered and took the container from his Mum's grip.
"Where's your flowers today?" she asked another question which Eddie was hoping she hadn't asked.
"Um..." Eddie struggled to find an excuse to why he didn't have them. "I told Viki that maybe I shouldn't take any home today since the market is coming up and she needs them to make money."
Sonia nodded. "Okay, you can go now and make sure you take those pills."
"Yes, Mummy." Eddie ran upstairs and into his room. He shut the door quietly and made sure not to slam it because Sonia hated him slamming any door. She said it could ruin the house.
Eddie glanced at the container in his hand and he sighed again. He hated the pills. He didn't know why he needed them. He just had some minor allergies. It's not like he was going to die, right? He took a pill and examined it, it looked like any other pill. He wanted to throw the whole container out of his window so he would never have to see it again, but he couldn't. He eventually brought himself to grab his water bottle and swallow the object, grimacing as it went down his throat.
He set the bottle and the container down on his desk and he sat on his bed, biting his lip in boredom. He remembered Richie again and how he had never thought to give him his number. Never even thought to give him his last name. He cursed out loud and lay down flat on his back out of frustration. At least he knew where he lived. Suddenly he jumped up and ran to the phone on his desk. He dialed the number he knew by heart and he tapped his foot lightly on the ground.
(Bold is the other person in every phone call.)
"Hello?"
"Viki! Hi! Uh..." Eddie trailed off, not knowing what to say anymore.
"Hi Eddie Bearrrrrrr."
Eddie sighed. Viki teased him a lot and since she comes over practically every other day she learnt that Sonia called him 'Eddie Bear'.
"Shut the fuck up, Vik." Eddie breathed and he heard Viki laugh through the phone.
"What were you going to say?"
Oh, right. "Do you reckon you could come over?"
"Sure, bud, I'll be there in 10."
Eddie smiled. "Thanks."
