Plenty of times I have started a story, only to leave it in the middle.
Plenty of times I have started at a page, with no idea of what to write.
Plenty of times I have had second thoughts on whether I should really write.
But if I were to stop now...
Think of three people in your life. Give your character the hair and laugh of person 1, the face and bedroom of person 2, and the wardrobe and mannerisms of person 3. This is your new protagonist. Feel free to give him or her any other characteristics you'd like. Give us an idea of who your character is by describing only the first 60 seconds of the character's day.

“Manny, Manny, wake up!”
I wake up in bed, startled by the shrill voice of my sister, Kiara. You don't need an alarm clock when you've got her to wake you up.
“Yeah, what is it, K?” I ask, groggily, rubbing on my eyelids to open them up.
“Your phone has been ringing for the past minute and its annoying me to the core! Pick. It. Up".
“Okay, okay, fine,” I say, letting out a yarn, and jumping off our bunk bed. Our room was in shambles, but I couldn't care less. As long as my bed’s done, I'm good.
I look at the time on our house clock: 7:49 AM.
“Shoot, K, we're late!”. I'm never late. I put on my glasses and pick up the phone as I run to the bathroom.
“Hey, beautiful,” Wade’s voice enters my ear as I start to comb out my wavy, but ever-tangled, black hair. I let out a laugh, well, more like a giggle, in spite of how I was feeling at the moment.
“Hey, babe,” I say, testing out the term of affection girlfriends usually reserve for their boyfriends.
Gosh, why am I so weird?
“I’m running a bit late, no time to talk".
“Oh. Should I come with some breakfast?” he asked.
“Nah, it's okay. Just wait for a bit,” I tell him, before cutting off the phone. This is no time for pleasantries.
I run to my dresser, which was a makeshift table filled with bottles of facewashes, shampoos ,conditioners and our individual make up bags. Both of us hated sharing our make up. I quickly dab on some foundation and concealer on my olive skin and then draw a thin wing on my eyelids. I complete the look with some lip gloss.
After that, I go to my wardrobe to pick out my outfit for the day. My clothes were neatly folded in stacks on various compartments, unlike Kiara’s which were all over the place. After failing miserably at picking up a casual yet chic outfit like I always do, I settle on a black crop top that said, ‘I WOKE UP LIKE THIS’ in bolded white lettering across it, pairing it with a pair of white pants.
Then I finally went to the kitchen for some breakfast.

So, that was hard.
But so much fun!
I know that scene must have crossed a minute, but just consider it as one for my sake :)
Person 1: My best friend of all time. Her laugh always sounds like a giggle, don't ask me why. And she has beautiful hair, though she rarely looks after it.
Person 2: One of my friends at hostel. We have never been close, but living at a hostel sort of makes you close.
Person 3: My childhood best friend. I know for a fact that she is way too organized with her clothes. I tried mannerisms, but I think I failed?
