I let the moons light dance across my face as I lean on the bark of a tree. I love this forest, it was so dark and mysterious with its towering trees that stood utterly still. The stars stared down at me glimmering and shimmering in the night sky. The familiar minty smell slowly making its way to my nose as I inhale deeply.

This was the perfect place for me to come and contemplate about everything. Like how I feel different compared to all the other werewolves they've all found their mate (the ones who are 16) apart from me, a werewolf is meant to find their mate at 16 but I am turning 17 tomorrow and I was still mate less. Not to mention I look different in wolf form. While all were shades of white, black or dark browns I was the only midnight blue one. They all mock me and tell me that I was an abnormal freak. I didn't let them get to me, they're opinions didn't matter to me. But there are just those days when I wish I'd have at least one friend to talk to about how I feel, and by friend I mean someone other than my mum, she listened to me but I knew deep down that I was a burden to her. I wasn't even the child of her mate. I am the child of a man who ran away after finding out I was going to be born. My mum never speaks of him and has told me nothing about him, not even his name.

Looks like the time I have friends and am happy will never ever come.

I take a deep breath and slowly make my way back to the pack house listening to the low sound of the soft breeze, and kicking some leaves on the path. When I enter the house, there are a bunch of people watching a movie in the massive living room laughing and smiling, I stare at them for a little while wishing I could have that. I shake my head and run up to the comfort of my bedroom.

I wear my pyjamas then make a silent prayer to the moon goddess, before flopping onto my warm, comfy bed.

I stare up at the ceiling for at least half an hour before allowing sleep to slowly take over me.

I open my eyes. The sunlight bathed my skin as I lay on my side trying to force my way back to sleep, today was a day I didn't want to have to go through. It might be my birthday but it sure as hell didn't feel like it, no one cares that its the blue wolf's birthday. She was the freak. Happy birthday my wolf Skye whispers to me as I get off my bed. Thanks I say back to her. At least someone remembered, I think to my self. Even though it didn't really count.

I go into my bathroom, take a quick shower then brush my teeth. I go into my wardrobe, pick out a bra, panties, skinny ripped black jeans, white converse and a grey coloured jumper, which seemed tighter than usual. Weird. I quickly throw on those clothes and go over to my mirror make up bag in hand.

I was just about to apply some foundation on my skin when I stopped my self. I stare at the reflection staring back at me with wide eyes. I notice some differences about my appearance. My eyes are now framed with thicker and darker lashes and my icy blue eyes stand out a lot more. My hair was once dark brown, straight and streamed down my back, but now it has become darker so it looks pitch black and it tumbles down my back in glossy waves. I slowly touched my hair and gasped at how soft it felt, I loved it.

I shook my head and tried to focus on something other than the fact that I looked a bit different. I applied some foundation, eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss before going down stairs to eat my break fast.

"Darling, happy birthday, you look beautiful new makeup?" I heard my mum ask as she sat down on the table with a plate full of pancakes and whipped cream.

"Thanks mum and no, no new makeup" I mutter.

She smiles at me and pushes the plate of pancakes and a box wrapped in sparkly silver wrapping paper.

"Whats this?" I ask her obvious confusion lacing my tone. She hasn't got me a present in 7 years.

"Don't be so surprised, open it" She says to me a sad smile on her lips.

I rip open the wrapping paper and what I see shocks me, my mum brought me an iPhone 6 I've never had a mobile and this made me really happy.

"Thank you so much mum, I really appreciate it" I say a grin on my face I was really weirded out, I thought she didn't care about me.

"Your welcome, I'm sorry if I was a bit harsh on you the last few years of your life, but I had my reasons, I've always loved you sweetie remember that, quickly now or your going to be late for school". She tells me with a sad expression on her face, and its only then when I see something in her eyes that makes me happy. Something I haven't seen in a long time and it warms my heart. Love. My mum does love me. I'm not as alone as I thought I was.
