Chapter 4: Regrets

Preston'sP.O.V.

"THATTA BOY ROB HOLD 'EM DOWN AND I'LLTRY NOT TO SHOOT YA!!!!!' His father screamed excitedly.

Rob wouldn't hurt me....Would he? I whimpered as Rob stayed silent for a bit then brought me closer to his chest and I gladly accepted holding onto him dearly.

I didn't like his father, as soon as I ran into the house he grabbed his gun and tried to shoot me, I was scared but obviously I'm the spitting image of my mother and father......

"DAD NO HE'S NEUTRAL HE'S NOT FULLY GROWN YET AND HE CAN CHANGE!!!!!" Rob ensured but his father wasn't convinced.

"WELL WHAT IF HE DOESN'T!!!!! HUH SON!?!?!?!? WHAT IF HE BECOMES HOW HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE?!?!?! HOW DO YOU KNOW!?!?!?!?!?!" His dad yelled back and I saw defeat in Rob's eyes.

"LET THE LEADER DECIDE IF PRESTON STAYS OR NOT!!" Rob said and that ended it.

Rob's father had anger flaming through his eyes and he whipped his gun out loading it. He aimed it at Rob and I growled at him.

I felt the power surge through my body and felt myself grow my bones cracking as I shifted into my new form. I sprouted wings causing me to scream silently and horns jutted out of my skull.

A rush of rage surrounded me and my vision flashed an evil colored red. I levitated off the ground my wings escalating me to unimaginable heights.

Lava and fire danced around me ready to burn anything in its path. The father looked at me horrified and I smirked signaling the lava to do what it must when the gun fire was heard.

I watched as the lava raced towards Robs father and a voice in the back of my mind told me not to do it but it just made me smirk even more.

I stayed there mid flight flapping my wings amused as he screamed in pain and then after a while the scream of pain was cut off mid-sentence and I smiled knowing it was done.

The lava trickled back towards me and I watched in wonder as it circled around me (like in brother bear with the spirits) then flew into the sky lighting it up as it slowly faded away.

A pain surged through me and I fell to the ground my wings not working. I looked as the grass jumped up and high fived my face causing a wave of dust to sweep across the area we were in.

I groaned propping myself up only to see my arm was completely covered in obsidian up to my elbow. What the heck?!?!?!

I glanced at it horrified and confused then I looked at myself realizing only know how much my body has changed.

I screamed as some of my skin (lava) sizzled away leaving nothing there but withered skeleton bones that were mine.

I watched in pain as it grew back quickly yet really painfully as a human arm..... It happened to my other arm to, and then my leg and soon my whole body was humanized.

I still had my horns, tail and wings so at least it made me unique from the rest.....I hope..... Oh god I just thought of something....

But what about Rob??!??! What would he think I just killed his father!!!!! He won't forgive me.... I really needed to tell him though.

The transformation wouldn't last long because I wasn't ready for this but when I looked at Rob he was luckily asleep.....Or dead...

I dove down towards him and picked up his wrist seeing the two bitemarks I left in him and immediately felt guilty.

I panicked for a second before I remembered how to check if they were alive or not. Thank god for my mother!

I crawled a bit closer to him and put my head on his chest and I felt something in his chest thump inside.

My mom said it was called a heartbeat? I think...Yeah that's what she called it. I'm pretty sure anyways.....yeah that's it...

She told me if it moves then the human is alive if not then he is dead or yeah, pretty much just dead. Unless one of them don't need oxygen but I highly doubt it...

My vision went in and out of focus and I saw the world swim and I stumbled about losing balance. I needed to go back to my former state already....

I flinched as my new human flesh burned away and Heard the sizzling knowing that I was back to my former state.

I felt something inside my back pull inwards in three different spots and I knew my fail and wings were gone too.

Butterflies started rising in my chest for I knew Rob would wake up soon. Just as I thought that Rob's eyes snapped open and he bolted up whipping his head around.

I wiped away my tears and looked at him really upset. How was I going to tell him I killed his father? I stared at the pile of ashes and tried to say something but I just couldn't.
