The only mistake

Her heart and her head were in a tug-a-war and her heart seemed to win all the time.

He might have run into trouble with the law, but leading her on was his real crime.

She always forgave and tried to forget but, it’s hard to forget when the one at wrong refuses to repent.

She was starving for his affection; meanwhile others would seek for her attention.

She wishes he would tell her how he really felt.

But he’d never tell her because with his emotions he never dealt.

She finally realized loving the one boy that was different was her mistake.

Authors Note: It's a poem written in 2013, excuse the non-formality of it; I am not a person who writes poems. This had to be written for English Lit on my senior year of high school, and I just wanted to share, please don't be rude.
