"Hey Gem?" I sped up and continued down the hall towards my locker.
"Gem wait up!" I groaned and rested my head on the cool metal, waiting as Paxton began to approach me.
"What do you want?" I banged my head on the locker with each word, then turned towards him with my head still resting on it.
"Can we talk?" I'd been avoiding this for as long as I could. Him bailing on me, the mixed signals, trying to get my attention while he's with Devi, it's all just too much to handle.
"I told you not now but since you're so eager to talk, you have 60 seconds, go." His mouth opened and closed a few times before he actually started to say anything.
"Why is there so much tension between us right now? I get it I messed up and I should've been there for you the way that you were there for me, but is this really worth losing our friendship over?"
"The fact that you even had the nerve to ask me that should be the answer to your question."
"Huh?"
"I was there for you in your time of need, I was there to support you despite the little time we've known each other. You weren't. We don't have to be enemies but we definitely won't be friends Paxton." I opened my locker and grabbed my bag before slamming it closed and walking off.
