Call first: 555-726-5488"Eww. Gross." I say quietly to myself as I look through the classifieds in the Sunday newspaper.
It had only been a day since I was told by my current roommate that she'll be moving her boyfriend into the house instead so I'd need to find another place to live. Even though she gave me thirty days to do so, I was happily willing to leave. She wasn't exactly the easiest person to live with, always losing a job and she was hardly ever on time with her share of the rent, but hey, if the new guy in her life wants to move in with this train wreck then more power to him!
I scan down the page of the newspaper reading any roommate wanted ads that I could find. Hoping to find something...anything that was within my price range that didn't sound horrible.

3598 Plain View Dr"Hmm...that doesn't sound too bad. I'll come back to it." I say out loud as I draw a red circle around it.
With me being already about to begin my final year of college in the fall, the last thing I wanted to do was go back to the dorms with a bunch of freshman. I've grown too accustomed to the independence of living off campus and nothing irritates me more than sharing one tiny room with another person. When the opportunity arose for me to move out of the dorms and into a real house with a group of girls, I was all too excited to do so. But over the last two years, the girls I loved so much all went their separate ways. They either got married, moved away or graduated so when I was left with the one girl I didn't like, who also happens to own this house, I knew it was just a matter of time before I'd need to move out myself.
I sit down the newspaper and pull up my long fuzzy socks before getting out of bed to go make me a bowl of cereal. I grab my Air Pods on my nightstand and press play on my phone to listen to some music. At least I was home alone this morning.
I grab my container filled with Lucky Charms and begin to pour, doing a little happy dance as I watch the colorful marshmallows clink into the pink ceramic bowl. However, my dancing is cut short when I see that only the tiniest bit of milk was left in the jug and once again, my roommate decided to drink all of my milk instead of just buying herself some more.
"Whatever." I huff as I pour my cereal back into its plastic container. "I'll just make myself some eggs then."
Opening the blue Styrofoam carton, I see that only eggshells were left in there. I groan out heavily as I press on the lever to open the trashcan and throw the empty carton inside with some force.
I walk back to my bedroom to get dressed. If I'm going to have to go out to get something for breakfast, I may as well get myself ready for the day and go check out these ads. The quicker I can get out of here, the more sane I can stay.
Passing by the main bathroom, I see that she has left a dirty towel on the floor, the trash is overflowing and she didn't even flush. What guy would want to move in with her for fuck's sake?
I make myself look presentable in case I do find a good place to stay today and grab the newspaper and my keys. I don't have my own vehicle ever since my little car kicked the bucket, but there's a diner a few blocks away that I figured I could eat at while I continued to look through the ads.
