Everything had to be timed perfectly.

Rin calculated every last detail. She wanted to leave as soon as possible, which meant that her window of time would be limited. But it'd all be worth it the second this house was nothing more than a bad memory.

Tonight at 6:00 pm, Mistress would leave for a brief meeting at her work. 6:30 she would feed her daughters a hearty meal of turkey breast and curry over rice...laced with cold medicine. At 7:00, she would put both children to bed, and begin her breakout plan.

Mistress would come home at 8:15, so Rin would take fifteen minutes to collect whatever they needed: money, clothes, tools, and most importantly, the guns.

At 7:30, the subway tickets she ordered would arrive. Once she got them, she'd move on to the most important part of the plan.

Freeing Len would be difficult, to say the least. She'd use pliers to cut through his handcuffs, but there was the matter of his bad physical condition, his injuries and broken components likely preventing him from moving. She doubted she could carry him, so she'd have to patch him up a bit.

At exactly 8:00, they would use what little time they had left to make a quick escape. About a kilometer away, there was a grocery store with a bike rack outside, so if they could make it there, they'd be able to ride the rest of the way to the station. From there, it'd be smooth sailing to the address given to her.

When the clock struck seven, as expected, both children where complaining they were tired and half asleep at the dinner table. Rin picked one up in each arm, took them upstairs, and put them in their own queen sized beds, before carefully shutting the door. They should be knocked out until tomorrow.

She didn't have time to change clothes, so she was going to have to be stuck in her black silk dress until she could change into more suitable clothes. She had an old backpack, big enough for a hiking trip, and stuffed it with everything they would need, including a pair of warm outfits, and a pair of outfits suited for the heat, two for her and two for Len. She'd change into the warmer one when she got the chance. There weren't a lot of practical clothes around the house, but she managed to find a long yellow coat and some leggings, along with brown leather loafers. She also found a black and red middle school uniform for herself, with a scarlet ribbon and a short skirt. For Len, she dug around in the room of their old Master, and unearthed what appeared to be a military jacket from the Second World War, camo cargo pants, and combat boots. And for good measure, she added a white t-shirt and a pair of expensive sneakers. All of which would be to big on him, but no matter.

She made her way to the cellar doors of the basement, but stopped when she tried to unlock it. It was a two way lock, branded to the handles and bonding them together, to which only Mistress was able to open.

Unauthorized.

And apparently the only one who could give Rin permission to go into the basement. How the hell was she supposed to get through this stupid lock?

The very sight of it taunted her, laughed at her, and she seethed in frustration. She wanted to just smash it.

Wait a minute.

She looked around her for something solid to use. A couple of vases and paperweights caught her eye, but nothing seemed hard enough. She gave up after a while, and looked down at the ground.

Her heels seemed pretty durable.

Hiking up her skirt, she stood on top of the doors, prayed that the neighbors couldn't hear her, and stomped on it with all her might. There was a sharp clang as part of the lock split open.
