Alexa woke up sprawled across Luke's floor with her cheek touching the cool ground. Her legs were twisted in a weird position but she didn't mind, as she was used to waking up like this. Slowly the events of yesterday came back to her and she remembered staying up half the night and listening to Luke talk about Hogwarts. Alexa heard a groan, and saw Luke on his bed with his head rolling to the side, and his blonde hair strewn across the pillow.
She got up quietly not wanting to wake him up and went downstairs to make breakfast. Summers with Olivia were always the most tolerable because Olivia couldn't hurt her as much with Luke constantly hanging around. Alexa made breakfast and took a small piece of bacon for herself, leaving the rest for her family.
Quietly, she walked through the manor and went to the library while savoring the piece of bacon. She grabbed a book all about wands and wand making and went to the far corner of the library. In the corner, there was a small duffel bag that Alexa had charmed with an undetectable extension charm. She climbed into the bag and looked around.
It had a bunch of books that she was reading on an old ratty bookshelf. There were also odd knick-knacks on the top two shelves that Alexa had either transfigured or found. The armchair in the corner was one that she had transfigured from a piece of wood she found outside. It was a couple years old and slightly dusty. In the corner there were scrap pieces of wood and rocks that Alexa often used when practicing her Transfiguration. This bag was usually where Alexa went when she wanted to be alone, or when she didn't want anyone to find her.
She opened the book about wandlore to the first page and started reading. Alexa was doing a lot of research about wands and wandlore because she knew it would be a lot more useful if she had something to channel her magic through instead of just using her hands. She already felt like most wand combinations that she'd read about wouldn't fit her as a person. Alexa had a strong feeling that she needed to make her own wand so that she could channel her magic to the best of her ability.
The redhead was skimming through the chapters and taking note of anything that may be important to know when making a wand. She was about to stop reading when she saw a paragraph that caught her eye;
Putting something personal in your wand, like a strand of hair or a drop of blood is another way to make your wand extremely loyal to you. Doing this can be useful if you want your wand to be flexible and have a wide range of magic, while still having it be loyal to only you. Most wandmakers don't do this as wands are generally pre-made, but it can be done.
Alexa smiled triumphantly. She knew the first thing that was going to go into the core of her wand. She changed her hair back to normal and took out three strands of hair. Alexa transfigured a piece of wood that was laying in the corner into a box and put her hair in it. She then cast a quick tempus charm and glance at the time. It was 8:30, and she was sure that Olivia would already be up by then.
Alexa snapped her book shut and practically ran down the halls, hoping Olivia didn't notice she was missing. She stopped running at the last second when she heard sounds coming from the kitchen. Alexa tried to calm her nerves and walk to the kitchen. She opened the door to see Olivia waiting there with a menacing look on her face. Olivia took out her wand and started advancing on the trembling girl. Alexa stumbled away from Olivia until her back hit a wall. Suddenly Olivia's wand was sticking into the girl's chest and her other hand was clasped around her neck in a choke hold.
