Some days,
I feel everything at once.
Other days,
I feel nothing at all.
I don't know what's worse:
Drowning beneath the waves
Or dying from the thirst.

Weeks passed by, and the summer heat was slowly decreasing. It was early July, when Alexa saw an owl pecking at the kitchen window. Giving the owl two treats, Alexa carefully untied both letters from the owl. She immediately knew what they were once she saw the red seal fastened on the letters. Turning the Hogwarts letters over, one was addressed to her brother, while the other was addressed to her.

"Luke, come down we got our Hogwarts letters!" Alexa yelled out to Luke, who came running down the stairs, while struggling to put on his jacket.

"What is it Lexi?" Luke inquired while looking at the letters in her hand.

Alexa shoved the letter in his hand, before pulling out a kitchen chair and ripping open her letter. To Alexa, the simple piece of parchment inside the envelope looked like a golden ticket out of the Merlin Manor. Her enormous smile was almost real, only lessening slightly when she remembered that she couldn't escape the manor forever.

Alexa read over the pieces of parchment at least 5 times, before looking up to her brother. He had a small smile on his face as he read over his sixth year letter. In his hands was a small green pin, with the words prefect printed neatly in silver.

"Luke you're a prefect!" she voiced.

"I know, mum's gonna be thrilled!" Luke exclaimed happily.

Alexa sobered up at that sentence, her smile slowly fading and her moment of elation gone. Luke had already put down his prefect badge, and started eating his breakfast, not noticing her change of mood.

"C'mon, do you want to go to Diagon Alley?" Luke suggested after he ate all his food.

"Sure" Alexa said before dragging Luke to the fireplace.

She took a fistful of the green floo powder and threw it down while articulating 'Diagon Alley'.

Alexa felt like she was being sucked into a drain, and she could catch glimpses of other fireplaces whenever she opened her eyes. After about five seconds, the feeling stopped and Alexa stumbled out, coughing a couple times before straightening out and brushing the soot off her robes. Luke was next, and Alexa had to reach up and brush some soot of his cheek before they left the leaky cauldron.

Reaching a brick wall, Alexa watched as Luke tapped the bricks and a small hole appeared in the wall before becoming wider and wider. Moments later, they were facing a cobblestone path that twisted and turned out of sight.

There were many odd shops on each side of the path, and the alley itself was extremely busy. Wizards crowded around shops like the apothecary, and muggleborns with their parents were pointing at the different magical displays at the shop windows. Other students had their Hogwarts letters in their hands, and bags of books in their arms.

Luke took Alexa to get a suitcase first. The shop itself was quite small, but many of the cases inside the shop were extravagant and looked expensive. Alexa opted to get a plain suitcase without any charms on it because she could cast them all herself. The outside of the suitcase was a deep purple, and the cool leather felt nice under her hand. Inside, the suitcase was lined with a lavender colored silk.
