A/N: this chapter is probably going to be confusing, so let me clear it up. Bold italics is Reyna speaking inside Mallory's head. Italics without quotations means Mallory is speaking INSIDE HER HEAD. Italics in quotes is just emphasis. Hope this helps!
As soon as the smoke stopped, Mallory could feel Reyna's prescence scrabbling around in her head. Slowly, Mallory let herself fall back, like lowering herself into a pool of water. Reyna was now in control of Mallory's body.
Mallory walked out of the motel room humming to herself. Her hands were stashed in her pockets and her flannel was flying in the wind. She caught Dean's eye and grinned.
Let me take over for a second or he's gonna suspect something, Mallory said. Reluctantly, Reyna stepped back. In control again, Mallory rapped on Dean's window.
"I'm going to take Lola to Texas. And, by the way, Lola is so much of a better name than Baby. I mean, really Dean, Baby? You can do better than that." Dean glared at her and patted the Impala's dashboard protectively.
"Don't say a word against Baby." he muttered. Mallory rolled her eyes and danced back to her own car, still humming the song.
Let me drive. Please. Please. You never let me drive. nagged Reyna from inside Mallory's head. It's been six years and you still don't trust me with Lola?
No, you're a demon. The rules of the road mean nothing to you. Mallory replied, huffing angrily. And I don't need my driver's license revoked because of something you do. Remember, you are in my body. I call the shots.
Fine. I hate you.
I know you do. Mallory revved the engine and set her stereo to full volume. Today it was Foreigner that was blasting from her speakers, and she happily started bopping along as she pulled out of the lot, the Impala close behind.
The drive to Texas was a long one. Occasionally Mallory would speak out loud instead of replying in her head and Dean would look at her like she was foreign. Sometimes Reyna made such of a racket that Mallory had to scream (silently, of course) at her to SHUT UP OR ELSE I WILL EXPEL YOU IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE! That usually shut Reyna up for a little bit. After a while, though, she got bored, and Mallory couldn't turn her volume down. 'Stairway to Heaven' was okay the first three times, but after round fifty-two Mallory finally roared at Reyna to choose a different song before I start coughing out smoke!
Sor-ree. Maybe you should let me drive. Then I'll shut up.
Never in a million years. Mallory snorted quietly, glaring out the window as Reyna continued singing. At least it had changed from 'Stairway to Heaven' to 'Eye of the Tiger'.
If you can't beat 'em... Mallory joined in and soon there was a fantastic karaoke session in her head. They finished the song in perfect sync and Mallory could tell that if Reyna had a body, she would be smiling.
Suddenly, a flood of power washed over Mallory and she lost control over her movement. She was still driving, a little bit faster, though, but whenever she tried to move something her body would not obey. Reyna chuckled icily.
Reyna, growled Mallory, give me back control. Now.
Nope! Reyna replied cheerfully. Did you really think I would stay put?
Mallory tried to sigh. No, not at all. The best she could do was sit tight and hope that Reyna did nothing crazy. And, well, to Mallory's surprise, nothing overly crazy did happen.
