"There's nothing wrong with my driving!" Dean protested. After a four-hour break, a nice shower, and a filling supper, they were ready to hit the road. Mallory insisted on taking her own car, saying that Dean's driving was too risky,
"You are a crazy dangerous driver! I'm much more comfortable driving on my own." Mallory crossed her arms, then uncrossed them. She walked around to the driver's side of her own '65 Ford Mustang and opened the door.
Dean raised his eyebrows. "You're sure? Fine, whatever floats your boat." He jumped into the driver's seat of the Impala, muttering, "But I'm gonna kick your ass."
"Oh, it's on!" Mallory called from her own car, revving the engine.
She drove out, letting Dean pull out before closing the garage.
Dean's phone rang soon after, and he put it on speakerphone and placed it on the dash.
"You have directions?" Mallory's voice floated out from the phone. Sam nodded, then realized she couldn't see and responded.
"Yep. You have the map, so I don't need to ask you if you know where you're going."
"Mm-hmm!" Mallory hummed, wiggling a bit in excited anticipation.
Mallory's car was directly in front of them, and they saw a shape suddenly appear in the passenger seat of her car.
"Shit! Reyna! What the hell?" She yelled as she righted her car, which had swerved dangerously.
"I got a more detailed location." Reyna replied cooly, ignoring Dean's chuckling coming from the phone on Mallory's dash. "I was hanging with the demons from earlier and they let a little bit more out. So, they said a few miles south of Louisville, Ohio. You hear that?" She asked Dean, who grunted good-naturedly.
"What's that to your right?" He asked Mallory, pointing so she could see in her rearview mirror. "It looks like a... a..." he looked at Sam. "A moose!"
She pulled over slightly, scruntinizing the landscape to her right. "I don't see anything..." she drawled, turning her head slightly.
With a small smirk, Dean swerved around Mallory's car. "Oops, I guess I must've imagined it." Mallory flipped him the bird and he laughed, flashing his tailights at her.
"You dickhead!" She laughed, following closely behind him. "I shall never trust you again!"
"Oh, please! Sweetheart, you know you love me." He responded, pushing the volume in his car up by one.
"You can do better than that!" Reyna called from Mallory's car, turning up the volume so 'We Will Rock You' blasted loudly out her open window. Mallory sang at the top of her lungs, and the song was just ending as the lane widened into two.
She pulled ahead of Dean, finishing the song obnoxiously loudly. When it ended, they both turned down their volume as the talk turned serious.
"So, this guy at the library... Chris, was his name? Anyway, who was he?" Dean asked, always keeping slightly ahead of the car beside him.
Mallory blushed slightly. "Chris is... an oddball. But he's cute and funny, and I like him. We met... when, six years ago? In semester 2 of Grade 12, he was in my Social class. We sat beside each other, the teacher put us together for a project, and we ended up being friends. He lived with his dad, who was an important diplomat at the time, which is why he's so stiff and formal all the time. But I think being around me and my friends helped loosen him up a bit. He still refuses to wear anything more casual than what you saw him in, and he still speaks like a boring important official of somesort, but trust me, he's much better than before. So, we kept in slight contact. We both went to the library on at least a weekly basis, and through meeting each other in the history section, I learned about his life.
