Hermione was only afraid of one thing, thunder. Her parents died in a car crash during a thunderstorm, and she wasn't able to reach them and restore their memories after the war.
Now, she wasn't afraid, she was mortified. Hogwarts is seeing the loudest thunderstorm in centuries and she is trapped in her room, with windows. Silencing charms don't help, and the only place with absolutely no windows was downstairs in the living room, but she shared it with Malfoy, who was head boy, and she'd bet anything he's down there.
Either she show herself down there, vulnerable to her worst enemy, or stay here and faint from fear. Hermione is not going to take that option, so she shelves her pride and walks down her set of spiral stairs, with a copy of Romeo and Juliet in her hand.
There was Malfoy, lounging on the couch, reading a book. Hermione sighed and sat wordlessly on the seat farthest away from him. Malfoy raised his eyebrows as she sat down, but he paid no mind and continued reading.
Hermione suddenly had an idea. She took her book and headed for the door.
"Where you going?"
"None of your business" said Hermione.
"Tsk tsk," said Malfoy.
"Its past curfew already, you won't be able to leave"
Hermione checked her watch and sighed. It was past curfew already. She tried to open the door, but it won't budge.
"I told you, you won't be able to leave"
Hermione sighed in frustration and used her wand to open it. Suddenly, she was in the air."Let me go Malfoy" she said in a low growl.
"Nu-uh"
"Let. Me. Go"
"No. I will not let you get in detention."
Hermione sighed again.
Draco plopped her on the couch and sat beside her.
"Why are you going to leave?"
"None of your business"
Draco sighed.
"Just tell me Granger, I won't judge"
A roll of thunder sounded outside.
Hermione shivered.
"If you won't tell me, I'll assume you're going to the Gryffindor common room to snog either Potter of Weasley"
Hermione made a sound of disgust.
"NOO! I would never do THAT! Besides, they both have girlfriends"
"Oh, so Granger is the odd one out i. The trio, how sad" Malfoy mocked.
"Do not mock me Mal-"
A roll of thunder sounded outside and Hermione almost fell off her seat. This time, she couldn't mask her fear and she whimpered as she got on the seat.Draco finally understood.
"You're afraid of thunder?"
Hermione tried to glare at him but she failed as another boom sounded outside.
She tried to ignore it by reading the book on the table."You know that's mine, right?"
