AU: DUMBLEDORE IS ALIVEEE!! Also there is like a marriage law thing and Hogwarts has this ball where you're going to find your soulmate, and Dumbledore puts a twist on it, hence the masquerade part. Kk lets go!
Also Hermione and Draco are head boy and girl but they dont share a dorm because all the 8th years share a common room and they have dorms for them. Pansy Lavender Hermione Ginny Parvati and Luna share a dorm.
Third person POV
Professor Dumbledore summoned everyone to the Great Hall for an important announcement. Once everyone was there, the Minister for Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt entered the hall.
"The second wizarding war has just ended and the wizarding population have dwindled drastically. Hence, the Ministry has enforced a new law which obligates all witches and wizards of age 17 and above will marry and have children to boost our numbers and remain stable"
This announcement was met with mixed feelings. The girls were interested in who their future spouse will be, or they openly protested on marrying early. The boys were the same.
Dumbledore called for silence and started his speech.
"In light of recent events, the school will hold a ball in which you are to find your soulmate. But, there is a catch. You do not decide who your soulmate is. This is why," he stopped and waved his hand. Blank white masks appeared in the air. He continued, "the ball is a masquerade."
"These masks which you are free to customize will magically lure you to your soulmate. Once you wear them, your physical appearance will change. Eye color, hair length, whatever you cam think of. In spite of these events, you will be free to leave the school for today in order to get ready for the ball. So, you may go! Chop Chop, the ball is tomorrow! Please grab a mask as you leave the hall."
All the students left, chattering excitedly.
