"Hey weirdo" Pansy said tiredly as she plopped down next to Vega in the Great Hall. It had been a few hours since Vega'd had her "dream" as she'd decided to call it. Vega hadn't dared to go back to sleep again, too scared of being thrown back to the mysterious corridor, and had spent the whole morning alone in the common room.
Millicent and Daphne followed Pansy and the two girls sat down on the bench in front of them. They instantly started to pour up porridge, that had appeared only minutes before the girls got there, in their bowls.
"Can't believe we're having our first lessons tomorrow" Daphne said, before scooping a spoon with porridge into her mouth.
"Yeah, sad they didn't let us have muggle studies though, bet you would've enjoyed it" Pansy said and Millicent laughed.
"Oh shut up, Pans" Daphne huffed and crossed her arms. Vega looked down on her empty plate in front of her, not sure of what to say to the girls. Guess these girls, like her mother, didn't like different either.
"Hey" Pansy looked at the pale girl, who'd put up her black curly hair in a ponytail to minimize the look of a bird nest. "What's up with you? Why are you being so quiet?"
"Yeah you definitely weren't this quiet a few hours ago" Millicent added and the girls laughed together.
An anxious feeling started to grow in Vega's stomach.
"No okay but seriously though" Daphne spoke up. "We thought you were dying or something"
"I... Uhm" Vega started. She did not know much more than the girls did, except for what professor Snape had told her. And surely she didn't want them to know about some weird 'gift' that would make her stand out from the rest of them.
"Just a bad dream" She finally forced herself to say.
Just as she thought her feelings was going to get the worst out of her, Harry and Ron entered the Great Hall, wearing their red and gold Gryffindor robes. Their eyes met each others and Vega gladly waved at the two boys, though only one of them waved back. Harry looked back at her with sad eyes, almost like he was pitying the girl, as he put down his arm again and let himself get away towards the Gryffindor table by Ron. She guessed Ron really did hate her for being put in Slytherin. Oh if he only knew.
"Ooo someone's having a crush on Potter. Or maybe it's the Weasel?" Pansy said and made her two other roommates laugh loudly.
"Uhm no they're just my friends". At least that's what she thought.
"You can't be serious, can you? Friends with blood traitors like them? Haven't your parents taught you anything? Oh I'd be worried" The girls laughed even more.
Luckily, to Vega's relief, far more interesting things interrupted the girls' minds as Professor Snape walked by, handing out their time tables, but she didn't dare to look up at him as he passed.

Vega sat under the tree in the court yard with a book in her lap. Her hair was tucked behind her ears so it wouldn't get in her face as she bent her head over her book, read all the words and let them sink into her mind. It smelt of grass and birds were chirping as they flew in the damp late summer air. Vega felt the black fabric from her robes burn on her skin as the sun shone on it.
A few older students were sitting on a bench on the other side of the court yard, speaking quietly with each other, while the rest of the school were all eating lunch in the Great Hall. Vega weren't very hungry and whatever bit of hunger she'd felt had been drowned by her desire to read. Though the subject of the book her mother had given her did scare the 11 year old girl, she didn't want to stop.
